Gallegos won the Q School
Spain’s Javier Gallegos won the Final Stage of Q School in La Cala. He shot 68 thanks to great finish with 2 birdies on last two holes for -10 total. France’s Victor Perez took second position one shot back.
Perfect weather to complete the final round on Asia course in La Cala. The head green keeper, Rafael Linares Garcia, ranked in top 3 in Spain, is very happy with the shape of his courses and players confirm his feeling. His 18 man team did a very nice job to be ready for the Alps Tour Q School.
“They were even better 3 weeks back but the weather has been so hot for this time of the year. We have worked a lot this year. We changed the irrigation system on Europa course. We improved the quality of the water used on all courses. We ventilated the greens every 2 weeks.”
“We have ambitious works planned for next year as well, to change the irrigation of the Asia Course which is now 25 year old and we will rebuild 2 greens, the second and the 10th to optimize pins positions.”
Javier Gallegos made the greens home during the final round. He holed two eagles and four birdies to win by one single shot.
“My game plan was to be aggressive. I wanted to do as many birdies as possible so I went for the pins on each hole. Sometimes I missed and dropped shots, but all in all my goal is achieved, I wanted to win.”
He had a little help from France’s Victor Perez who dropped a shot on the very last hole. Overnight leader, Alexandre Daydou, 19, battled with fever and sinusitis all day and felt eased entering the scoring area. He is one of the 3 men on the podium alongside Nicolas Tacher and Santiago Tarrio.
“That was the never ending day. I am so happy it is done now. I am so tired.”
His team mate from France National Team, Léonard Bem, who just made the cut, signed for the best score of the day tie with Tacher, 66 and recorded a 7th position.
“I was way more relax on course. I managed to enjoy the game and my putting was efficient. My long game was better as well so all of these made the difference at the end.”
The cut for full category felt at +3 for 38 players, including 9 amateurs.

Daydou soared in La Cala
France’s Alexandre Daydou shot a 6 under par card on Asia course, -10 total, to lead the Q School Finale by 2 shots over fellow countryman Victor Perez.
Daydou, 20, scored flawless card on Asia course, six birdies to take command going into final round. The young man, born in La Réunion island, is one of the young French talented amateurs. He came in Spain with one goal, gain a full Alps Tour category for 2016.
« My game plan was simple and I stuck to it. I worked on it with my coach, Renaud Gris. Here, you have to be careful with tee shots and that was my routine for these past 2 rounds. I kept of targeting the safe places on fairways to have good angles to hit the greens.
Most of the time, I did not hit the driver and I have to admit it was a good thing because I am so sick, sinusitis, that I would not have been able to finish my round. »
On his toes, Victor Perez, 23 year old from Tarbes, South of France. He graduated from University of New Mexico last June and had a win there as a freshman. He came back to Europe as he just missed by one shot the Canadian Tour card during Q School and is delighted to be play to play well in La Cala.
« My game was very solid on my first nine, from 10th to 18th. Pins positions were difficult on the 17th and 18th so I did not go for them. From the first hole of my back nine, I have admit a little lack of focusing, same rythm of play, warm temperature, I saved 2 pars on holes 3 and 4. Then I had a nice eagle on the 5th then erased by a double bogey on the next hole, a bad bounce. But all in all a nice day and as I played first stage, I am getting to know Asia course pretty well now. »
Spain’s Roberto Sebastian -7 total and Javier Gallegos -6, are respectively 3rd and 4th, one shot further, a group of 4 players tie for 5th place, England’s Ben Wheeler, Spain’s Gonzalo Gancedo and Italy’s Nicholas De Pedrazzi (am) and Federico Colombo.
The cut felt at exactly 65 players at +4. The youngest player of the field, Austria’s Laurids Lohr, 16, missed by only one.

Twyman took advantage in La Cala

England’s George Twyman shot 65 -7 during opening round of the Q School Finale in La Cala. The young man plays almost at home as he lives in Marbella. A group of 6 players is 2 shots back.
The field of players really enjoyed a fair weather today in South of Spain near Malaga. No wind and 20 °C, all was set for a perfect round of golf. Twyman, 20, who turned pro last January took advantage of his knowledge of the area. He knew the course and admitted it is important to know where to play from tees.
« If you can put the ball in play, you have a chance to go for the greens. They are small, so it is important. My putter was very efficient today, really. I played well but this part of my game made the difference. »
« I turned pro last January and I only played on Gecko Tour in 2015. I finished well at the final oroder of merit so I had an invitation to play directly the Alps Tour Q School finale. My goal is to play on Alps Tour instead of playing on circuits in England, first the weather is better in continental Europe and it is nice to learn to travle from country to country each week. »
He holed 8 birdies and only dropped one shot on the par 3 third. A pack of 5 players is 2 shots back. Among them, England’s Ben Wheeler, Spain’s Javier Gallegos and France’s Victor Perez who signed for 67 on the most difficult course, the Europa one.
The after 2 rounds will fall at 65th and ties. The projected cut is currently at +2.

Battle against the wind in La Cala

France’s Lambert Cochet is the only non British player to win one of the 3 first Q School stage on America course. Englishmen Reece Philips and Ollie Roberts won on Europa course and James Adams on Asia course.
Gusts of wind changed the rules of play for this second and last round of Q School Stage 1. All courses defended themselves very well and only 6 players shot under par today, four on Asia course and 2 on Europa.
Cochet shot 74 and finished +1 total to overpass the overnight leader on America course Scotland’s John Gallagher. James Adams fired 68 on Asia course today after his 69 of yesterday, he is the only player who shot under par both rounds.
“Been a great few days, made even better by some good golf showing up! Very fun and tricky course in quality condition, looking forward to final Qualifying and another week out of rainy England!”
His countrymen Reece Philips and Ollie Roberts won on Europa course with -2 total.
The 42 spots on Asia and 22 on America have been earned but the darkness forced the last two players involved in a play off on Europa course (29 spots) to stop the game. Belgium’s Nicholas Makhoul and France’s Mickaël Almeida already played 7 extra holes 10th-11th-17th-18th-10th-11th-17th and no one took advantage. The game will resume at 9:00 tomorrow morning.

Brits set the pace in La Cala

Great Britian is very well represented after first round of Q School Stage One. England’s Ollie Roberts and James Adams, Scot John Gallagher all lead. Victor Perez of France ties for pole position with Adams.
The battle takes place on 3 different golf courses of La Cala Resort. England’s Ollie Roberts, 23, coming from Hong-Kong, shot 68 -3 on Europa course to lead by two strokes over fellow countryman Nick McCarthy. These only two players shot under par on this course.
On Asia course, two players share the lead with -3, 69. England’s James Adams, 21 and France’s Victor Perez, 23 signed for best score on the easiest of the three course, eleven competitors managed to break par there today. France’s David Giaoui aced the Asia’s 17th with wedge 52°.
On America course, Scotland’s John Gallagher took a 2 stroke lead thanks to 3 under par card 69 over France Lambert Cochet. Both are former Alps Tour members and both got injured the past season. Gallagher is the only cack handed golfer (right hand player but right hand on top of the grips) to play on pro circuit in Europe.

Alps Tour Q School Day-1
Slovenia’s Tim Gornik won the Q school final in La Cala in 2014.
No less than 155 players are about to tee off the Alps tour School stage 1, in La Cala Golf Course, near Malaga, to earn one of the 93 spots to go into the final. Who will succeed to Tim Gornik, the 2014 Q School winner ?
The great 3 courses of La Cala Resort are the perfect venue for the Alps Tour Qualifying School. There are about 220 players in total from 19 different countries who came to battle for a right to play on the Alps Tour in 2016.
The first stage offers 93 spots to play the final stage. The exact numbers of spots per course will be officially announced after the first round has started but more or less 2, there will be 41 spots for players on ASIA course, 30 on EUROPA course and 22 on AMERICA course.

Israel Masters – Full TV report
One hour highlights of the inaugural Edmond de Rothschild Israel Masters, the Alps Tour Grand Final, at Caesarea Golf Club. Dutch Jurrian Van Der Vaart won after two rounds – final round cancelled due to storms. Italy’s Gregory Molteni and England’s Tom Shadbolt finished second ties.

Pavon and Maestroni Challenge Tour

France’s Matthieu Pavon will play on Challenge Tour next year as he just made the cut in the European Tour Q School Final.
The young French man was in tears in Isreal when the final Alps Tour ranking was published. He was at the worst position, the 6th place.
He still had 2 chances to play on Challenge Tour next year though. Either one of the top 5 players made the cut in teh Q School final or he made the cut. Both happened. Josh Loughrey is currently 51st after 4 rounds with -2 total and Matthieu Pavon is 39th with -9.
One Alps Tour spot has been freed and Italy’s Andrea Maestroni will play on Challenge as well as he finished 7th in the final ranking.

Enter for the Qualifying School at La Cala and join us in 2016

The Alps Tour is pleased to announce that La Cala Resort will be, for the 4th time, the host of the Qualifying School scheduled from the 10th to the 16th of December 2015.
It is with great pleasure that Alps Tour will organize its Qualifying School first stage and finale once again in this great resort. La Cala Resort offers wonderful facilities, hotel on site, great practice range and 3 championship golf courses.
As last year, the Final Stage will be played on Asia & Europa courses.
The first stage is sheduled on the 10th and 11th of December and the Finale is to be played on the 14th, 15th and 16th of December.
The Top 35 will obtain a full category to play the 2016 Alps Tour events.

Israel Masters – Final Day
