Oihan Guillamoundeguy captures his 1st professional win at the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open!
The players competing in the final round of the 9th edition of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open being played at Miglianico Golf & Country Club, had great scoring and weather conditions. It was another beautiful summer day in the Abruzzo Region. However, players competing in the final few groups had to face some strong winds on the final 5/6 holes, especially on the 18th hole which is normally a reachable par 5 instead with the wind against them many players chose to layup. Play began at 8:00 am local time and the leaders group teed off at 9.40 am local time from the 1st hole.
The top 6 players in the Alps Tour Order of Merit rank at the conclusion of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open are exempt from Stage 1 of DP World Tour Qualifying School.
Twenty-seven years old, Davey Porsius, from Netherland concludes the tournament in 2nd place, only 1 stroke from the title. He stayed near the top of the leaderboard for the entire week and was in the lead after yesterday’s 2nd round. He shot an even par, 70 today with 1 double bogey, 3 bogeys and 5 birdies for a three-day total of 12 under-par. Porsius is a previous winner on the Alps Tour as he won the 2022 Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open title last spring. After his round, he commented: “I played pretty solid for 16 holes, I was trying to shoot 2 or 3 under-par which then Oihan had to go 4 or 5 under-par. I definitely regret hitting driver Out of Bounds on the 17th hole. I had a 1 shot lead at the time and the only thing you can’t do on that hole I did so that is a major regret I have and then I unfortunately tried to make it up on the last hole and I missed a 1m30 putt for birdie on the 18th hole to force a playoff.” Porsius went on to add that “I knew I had to play well this week. Unfortunately, it’ll be a few weeks until the next tournament where I will actually be in the field to defend the title so hopefully I can give myself another opportunity to grab a win this season. I will keep focused in these weeks off on the golf and what I’ve been working on as I finished 3rd last week and 2nd this week so results are coming.”
The tournament ends with a 4-way tie for 3rd place with a three-day score of 10 under-par: Estonia’s Sander Aadusaar, Spain’s Victor Garcia Broto and French Duo: Augustin Hole and Franck Medale. Tied for 7th place only 1 stroke back, 3 of this season’s previous winner: Spain’s Quim Vidal, Netherland’s Lars Keunen and Italy’s Manfredi Manica.
The low round of the day belongs to Estonia’s Sander Aadusaar who shot a 7 under-par, 63 in the final round.
The Alps Tour Order of Merit rank after the 12th events still has Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele in the lead with 22,034.25 points. This week’s winner, France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy jumped into 2nd place and Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney moved into 3rd place. Netherland’s Lars Keunen and Spain’s Quim Vidal close out the top 5 spots.Final Round

The Alps Tour players now have a few weeks off before the next scheduled event which gets underway from September 14th– 16th at AA Saint Omer Golf Club in Saint-Omer, France for the 2023 Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open,it will be the last regular event of the season.

Davey Porsius moves into the lead after a 62 in Round 2 at the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open.
It was another beautiful day with great scoring opportunities for the players competing at Miglianico Golf & Country Club in the Abruzzo Region for the 2nd round of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open. The weather conditions were very favorable with sunny skies, a warm temperature and some light winds. Play began at 7:30 am from both the 1st and 10th hole. This is the 9th edition of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open.
Davey Porsius, 27 years old from Netherland shot an incredible 8 under-par, 62 in today’s round for a two-day total of 12 under-par to find himself in the lead ahead of the final round. He was in a 7-way tie for 3rd place after the opening round, but he made 9 birdies and 1 single bogey during his 2nd round to move into the lead. He currently is 13th in the Order of Merit rank and looks to make a move towards the top 5 spots. Porsius became an Alps Tour winner when he captured the 2022 Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open title last spring and now looks forward to trying to capture another win. After the round, Porsius commented on how “I hit it a little bit better than yesterday but was able to hole some nice putts during the round which is always good, I enjoyed it for sure. Today was a really good day, I mainly focused to hit one shot at a time and it works nicely. I feel like the wind was less strong than yesterday, maybe it was just the difference in the two waves but that made it a bit easier but the conditions overall were quite similar to yesterday.” When preparing for tomorrow’s final round, he plans to “rest and do some stretches, I want to make sure my body stays in good shape.” Porsius got ill right before the start of the 2023 Croara Alps Open, subsequently he had to miss out on a few events, “it would mean so much to win tomorrow, after getting sick, I knew I needed to play well the remaining tournaments to get into the top 5 in the Order of Merit rank. A 3rd place in Tenerife and a win this week would mean I can skip first stage of DP World Tour Q-School and would put me in position to have a better chance of making it to the Challenge Tour next year.”
France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy who is just 18 years old, who was tied for the lead after yesterday’s 1st round, finds himself in 2nd place with a two-day total of 9 under-par after today’s round 2. He shot a 4 under-par, 66 today with 5 birdies and 1 bogey. Guillamoundeguy represents Golf Club Seignosse and is a past winner on the Alps Tour as he captured the 2022 Red Sea Little Venice Open title when he was still an amateur player. He then turned professional at the end of 2022 and this is his first season as a professional player. After the round, Guillamoundeguy proudly commented: “that today was a great round. I take the momentum from the 15th hole for my great finish. I can say that my long game was definitely better than yesterday however my putting wasn’t as sharp.” He went on to add that he finds Miglianico Golf & Country Club, “in good shape. The greens are slightly soft but they were better today even though I didn’t make as many putts. My strategy was good and I will stick with the same plan tomorrow. I will try to just be myself in the final round and play the golf I know I can play and see what happens. I’ve been playing well but need to put all pieces together to try and earn my first professional win.”
Twenty-seven years old, Manfredi Manica from Italy, winner of the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand, was tied for 19thplace yesterday but is now in a three-way tie for 3rd place with a total score of 8 under-par. He followed his opening-round of 2 under-par, with a bogey-free 6 under-par,64 in the second round for a two-day total of 8 under-par. During today’s round, he made 6 birdies. After his round, Manica was very pleased, “I played very solid today especially my long game. I found that the course was playing slightly easier today. There was less wind and the pins were more accessible like the 6th and 8th hole.”
France’s Franck Medale is also in the three-way tie for 3rd place with a two-day total of 8 under-par alongside Manica. He is 28 years old and represents Golf Espalais. Medale is a winner on the Alps Tour as he captured the 2021 Open de La Mirabelle d’Or. He has earned various top 20 finishes so far this season but is looking to breakthrough and earn another win. During today’s 2nd round, he made 1 bogey on the 5th hole and 5 birdies for a 4 under-par,66. Following his 4 under-par, Medale commented: “it was a solid round, I made good decisions the entire day. Unfortunately, I missed a few opportunities that would have made it an even better round. I feel like I just have to keep putting myself in good position and let the putter do his magic to hopefully win another tournament.”
Xavier Poncelet from France is the third player in the three-way tie for 3rd place with a two-day score of 8 under-par. He shot a 5 under-par, 65 in today’s second round where he made 2 bogeys and 7 birdies. Poncelet has earned a win and various top 5 finishes over the years in his Alps Tour career. When he completed today’s round, Poncelet was very happy with the way the day went and he found “today was very hot. I overall played well today and can’t really point out anything specific. It was a fun day where I thoroughly enjoyed shaping the ball and putting a good round together.”

The final round of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open will begin at 8:00 am local time from the 1st and 10th hole.
A total of 55 players (46 pros and 9 amateurs) made the cut which was set at 139 (-1). The final group will tee off at 9:40am local time from the 1st hole.
The winner of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open, will earn the winning check of €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

A two-way tie for the lead after the round 1 at the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open.
Miglianico, July 27th 2023- After round 1 at the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open, Spain’s Victor Garcia Broto and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy share the lead with a score of 5 under-par. There is a 7-way tie for 3rd place only 1 stroke back that includes: Estonia’s Sander Aadusaar, Spain’s Joel Moscatel and Quim Vidal, France’s Augustin Hole and Franck Medale, Netherland’s Davey Porsius and Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo.
It was a beautiful sunny summer day with some light to moderate wind in the Abruzzo Region in Central Italy for the 1st round of the 12th tournament of the season, the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open. The tournament is being played at Miglianico Golf and Country Club in Miglianico, Italy. Play began at 7:30 am this morning from both the 1st and 10th hole. The forecast for the remainder of the week is expected to be similar to today which will allow players to have optimal scoring conditions.
This is the 9th edition of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open and players competing this week are trying to capture the decisive order of merit points that are on the line and make a move in the Order of Merit rank. The top 5 players in the rank at the end of the 2023 season will earn Challenge Tour cards for the 2024 season.
Spain’s Victor Garcia Broto, twenty-six-year-old, who represents Real Club de Golf El Prat is in a two-way tie for the lead at the conclusion of the 1st round of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open. He shot a 5 under-par,65 with 1 bogey on the 1st hole and then he made 6 birdies on the remaining 17 holes. Garcia Broto turned professional in October 2021 and he is a past winner on the Alps Tour as he captured the 2021 Emilia-Romagna Grand Final. After his opening round, he was very happy especially after a bogey on the 1st hole: “It went pretty well, overall I’m very happy with my game. It was a consistent round, being in play most of the time, and I was able to make some good putts to post a good first round. It definitely wasn’t the best of starts, but some of the best rounds start with a bogey on the first, it’s just another hole and you have keep playing with the same intensity and try to turn it around.” Garcia Broto went on to comment that, “It was a bit windy and it was tricky to judge where the wind was coming from. I felt like it switched directions constantly and it made it difficult to judge some of the shots. But pretty happy with how I have handled it.” Looking ahead to what a win would mean to him, “It would mean a lot. Not just for winning, which is always very gratifying, also because it would put me in a position where I could fight for the Challenge Tour card at the end of the season and that is the main goal. I will continue doing my work on and off the course, trying to shoot as low as possible in the remaining rounds and hopefully that will give me a chance of winning the tournament on Saturday.”Oihan Guillamoundeguy from France, just eighteen years old, who represents Golf Club Seignosse is the second player tied for the lead after the 1st round at the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open. He shot a 5 under-par, 65 with 2 bogeys, 1 eagle and 5 birdies. He is a past winner on the Alps Tour having won the 2022 Red Sea Little Venice Open as an amateur. He turned professional in December 2022 and this is his first season as a professional player. So far, he has captured various top 5 finishes but is looking to breakthrough and grab his 1st title as a professional on the Alps Tour hopefully before the end of the season. After his 5 under-par round, Guillamoundeguy expressed his satisfaction: “today was a great round, I played really good. It wasn’t easy, it was windy so it was hard to hit some greens and judge where the wind was coming from. I would say that my putting was very good today. I changed putter recently and I feel good with it so I will definitely stick to this new putter now.” When asked about chasing his first win as a professional he added, “it would definitely be great. I’ve been playing well and now need to be able to put 3 good rounds together.”

Augustin Hole from France concluded his 1st round at the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open in a 7-way tie for 3rd place with a total score of 4 under-par,66. During today’s round he made 3 bogeys and 7 birdies. He is 26 years old and currently represents Biarritz Le Phare. After his opening round, Hole explained: “It was a good round today, considering that the wind was very swirling for most of the day. Especially after 6 holes. My goal is definitely to win an event before the end of the year. I just need to be more patient and a little bit more precise on some shots. I will keep doing what I am doing mostly, because it works fine but focusing on the little things I need to change. My strategy will be the same, you can be very aggressive this week as the greens are soft and a little bit slow.”
Netherland’s Davey Porsius is also in the 7-way tie for 3rd place after round 1 with a total score of 4 under-par, 66. He is 27 years old and represents Goyer Golf Club. During his opening round, Porsius made 1 bogey and 5 birdies. After he signed his card, his first reactions were: “It was okay, I hit a lot of greens but none of them were super close. However, I was able to make some important birdies coming down the stretch. To be honest, conditions are a bit different from usual, fairways are a bit higher than normal which makes it tough to judges distances.”
Alongside Hole and Porsius in the 7-way tie for 3rd place at 4 under-par: Estonia’s Sander Aadusaar, Spain’s Joel Moscateland Quim Vidal, France’s Franck Medale and Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo.
The 144 players from 15 different nations are competing for a prize fund of €40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 9th edition of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
Round 2
The second round of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open will begin again at 7:30 am local time from the 1st and 10th hole. After round 2, a cut will be made to the top 40 players and ties.
Spain’s Victor Garcia Broto will begin round 2 at 13:25 local time from the 10th hole and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy will begin his second round at 8:25 am local time from the 1st hole.

The 9th edition of the Abruzzo Alps Open gets underway on Thursday.
Miglianico, July 25th 2023- The tour returns to action this week in Italy after a week off and they head to the Abruzzo Region in Central Italy for a notable stop on the tour schedule. The 9th edition of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open will be played at Miglianico Golf and Country Club in Miglianico, Italy. The twelfth event of the 2023 season, will be contended from Thursday 27th July until Saturday 29th July.
On Wednesday 26th July, the traditional best ball aggregate to par shotgun pro-am will take place with approximately 30 teams competing.
This will be a very important week for the players who are trying to capture the decisive order of merit points that are on the line and make a move in the Order of Merit rank. The top 5 players in the rank at the end of the 2023 season will earn Challenge Tour cards for the 2024 season.
Spain’s Manuel Morugan captured the trophy last year and will be in the field to try and defend his title.
The Field
A packed field of notable players is expected in Italy this week for the 12th tournament of the season, the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open.
All of this season previous winners will be competing for the title this week in Central Italy, except for Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele who captured 3 titles this season and therefor earned his Challenge Tour card.
The following 9 players in the top 10 Order of Merit rank are expected to compete: Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, England’s Jack Floydd, Netherland’s Lars Keunen, Spain’s Quim Vidal, Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, France’s Benjamin Kedochim and Oihan Guillamoundeguy, Italy’s Luca Cianchetti and Spain’s Jose Manuel Pardo Benitez.
The field will be made up of 144 players representing 15 different nations. The players will be competing for a prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 points. The winner of the 9th edition of the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open, will earn €5,800 and 6,525 crucial Order of Merit points.
The tournament will be played as a 54 holes stroke play event, where a cut will be made after 36 holes. The top 40 players and ties will compete for the title, during the final round which is scheduled for July 29th 2023.

The Course
Miglianico Golf and Country Club is a 5875 meters par 72 course located in Miglianico in the Province of Chieti, about 20 km south of the city of Pescara in the Abruzzo Region. It was designed by well-known American golf architect, Ronald Kirby. The course is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, bunkers, and artificial lakes making Miglianico Golf a pleasant but challenging course to play with strategically placed bunkers and water hazards.
Miglianico G&CC has hosted numerous events in the past including the Abruzzo Alps Open for eight times, the 2021 and 2022 1st stage of Alps Tour Qualifying School and the 2009 Games of the Mediterranean.

Another 1st time winner on the Alps Tour! Gianmaria Rean Trinchero captures his 1st professional title at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera
The final round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera played at the beautiful Tecina Golf in La Gomera began at 8:30 am and the leaders teed off at 9:52 am local time under sunny skies, a warm temperature and swirly windy conditions. This is the 4th edition of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera.
Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, 28 years old representing Golf Club Monticello, came from behind to vanquish his 1stprofessional win at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. He shot an impressive 9 under-par, 62 in today’s final round to conclude with a three-day total of 19 under-par. He had a great start to his final round with 6 birdies in his first 7 holes of the day. Rean Trinchero has captured good results so far this season including a 2nd place finish at the 2023 Gösser Open but was looking to breakthrough and conquer his 1st professional victory. He’s been playing professional golf since 2020 and prior to his win, he was 16th in this season’s Alps Tour Order of Merit rank. After his win, Rean Trinchero’s first reactions were, “I began really well today. I played really well the front nine then I saw that I had a few shot margins between me and the player in 2nd place so I then tried to play less aggressively that’s why I made only 2 birdies on the back nine. I played extremely well and it makes it even more special and I’m very happy.” When asked about what it means to him to have captured his 1stprofessional win and became a 1st time winner on the Alps Tour, he added, “this win means a lot to me. I feel like I’ve been playing well and was 16th in the order of merit and needed to capture a win to try and be in the top 5 spots so it means a lot in this particular moment of the season. More importantly I’ve regained a good level of confidence in my game so I’m very happy about that also. I want to thank my parents, my coaches Giovanni Dassù and my putting coach Camilla Mazzola.” Looking at the rest of the season, Rean Trinchero added that: “my season goals won’t change. I need another good finish in one of the next two events to be sure I can stay in the top 5 so another win would obviously be great but I’d be happy with a few good top 5 finishes.”
Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela from Spain whos hometown is Tenerife was tied for the lead after two rounds, had a final round of 4 under-par for a three-day total of 15 under-par. He made 1 bogey and 5 birdies in his final round. He is 26 years old, turned professional in 2021 and this is his 3rd season on the Alps Tour. After he completed his last round, Hernandez Cabezuela was satisfied even though he came up short: “I played well but Gianmaria was unbeatable, on the front 9 I left some shots out there as I was only able to make 1 birdie and made a mistake on the 8th hole. Then I played really well on the back nine but I am happy overall because I feel I can win, my performance this week reflects that I am playing well and my time will come.”
The tournament ends with a two-way tie for 3rd place with a three-day score of 13 under-par, Dutch-duo: Davey Porsius and Bob Geurts. In a four-way tie for 5th place only 1 stroke back: Spain’s Quim Vidal, France’s Franck Medale, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy.
After the 11th tournament of the season, Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele keeps the Alps Tour Order of Merit lead with Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney in 2nd place and England’s Jack Floydd in 3rd place. This week’s winner Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, moved into 6th place.

The 2nd round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera which is being played at the breathtaking Tecina Golf on the Island De La Gomera in the Canary Islands began with a 30 minutes delay. They delay occurred as there were some very strong overnight winds that toppled various palm trees throughout the golf course therefore the head superintendent and his staff needed extra time to get the course back into playing conditions for the players. The Alps Tour wants to thank Tecina Golf head superintendent Josè Arrola and his staff as well as Real Federación Española de Golf superintendent Miguel Guerra for their incredible work to allow us to start the second round.
This is the 4th edition of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. The 2nd round officially began at 8:50 am local time from the 1st hole.
Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela who’s hometown is Tenerife in the Canary Islands, was tied for 14th place at the conclusion of yesterday’s 1st round, after today’s round, he is tied for the lead. He followed his opening-round of 4 under-par 67, with a 7 under-par 64 in the second round for a two-day total of 11 under-par. Today, he made 1 eagle, 1 bogey and 6 birdies throughout his round. He is 26 years old, turned professional in 2021 but is playing his 3rd season on the Alps Tour. After his round, Hernandez Cabezuela was very pleased, “I played much better today, specially from the 1st hole to the 7th. Then I had a couple more chances for birdie but unfortunately didn’t make them. I’m very happy with the score because it was a bit tougher today also condition wise. The wind was obviously a big factor today, it was very gusty so it made it even tougher.” He went on to explain that: “I caught a huge momentum going through the front nine. Just dropped a few putts and hit some really good shots making 4 birdies and 1 eagle in a row. I will for sure be looking for many more tomorrow. I will be focusing on playing my own game, I’ll need to bring my best to hopefully win my 1st title tomorrow and it would be even more special being at home.”
Oihan Guillamoundeguy from France who shot a 6 under-par, 65 during the 1st round and was tied for 5th place, finds himself in the two-way tie for the lead. He followed his opening-round with a 5 under-par, 66 in the second round for a two-day total of 11 under-par. During today’s round, he made 1 bogey, 1 eagle and 4 birdies. Guillamoundeguy is just 18 years old, represents Golf Club Seignosse and he is a past winner on the Alps Tour having won the 2022 Red Sea Little Venice Openas an amateur. He turned professional in December 2022 and he is now competing in his first season as a professional player. So far this season he has captured various top 5 finishes but is looking to breakthrough and grab his 1st title as a professional on the Alps Tour. After the second round, he was very content as he “it was a great round today. I didn’t play as well as yesterday but today was a great effort. The beginning of the day was a struggle as I was hitting some bad shots and quite unlucky in some situations which was hard but then on the 7th hole, I made a clutch putt for birdie which gave me some good momentum.” Guillamoundeguy made an incredible eagle on the par 4, 9th hole where: “My shot of the day was definitely on the 9th where I hit a 4-iron to about 5 meters from the pin and made the putt for eagle.” He went on to add that: “I will try to catch the win tomorrow for sure. It would mean a lot but I don’t want to get too far ahead. I plan on playing like the past two days and see where I end up.”

Twenty-four years old, Bob Geurts from Netherlands who was tied for 2nd place after yesterday’s 1st round, now is a two-way tie for 3rd place, only 1 stroke off the lead at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. He finds himself with a two-day total of 10 under-par after his 3 under-par, 68 in round 2 with 1 bogey and 4 birdies. He turned professional towards the end of last year and prior to this tournament, his best finish was an 11th place at 2023 Gösser Open and at the 2023 Croara Alps Open. When he concluded his round, he commented that, “today was totally different than yesterday. There was much more wind but I still managed to play well and put myself in a good position. It could have been better if a few more putts dropped but overall, I’m happy. It definitely played a bit harder and I had to focus on what direction the wind was coming from.” Geurts went on to add that, “tomorrow I plan to just play my own game like I did the past two days and see if it will be good enough for the win.”
Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero shot an 8 under-par, 63 round today for a two-day total of 10 under-par and is tied for 3rdplace alongside Geurts ahead of tomorrow’s final round at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. He is 28 years old and he represents Golf Club Monticello. During today’s round 2, he made 1 double bogey and 10 birdies.
In 5th place with a two-day score of 9 under-par France’s Augustin Hole who shot a bogey-free 6 under-par, 65 in today’s round.

Ronan Mullarney leads after a bogey-free opening round at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera.
On the beautiful Island De La Gomera, in the Canary Islands, the first round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomeraplayed at the beautiful Tecina Golf began at 8:20 am. This is the 4th edition of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera after its previous three editions which were hosted in 2018, 2019 and 2022. The players were able to compete under perfect weather conditions which favored good scoring opportunities as they began the tournament with sunny skies and minimal light winds.
Round 1 Player Quotes
Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, 27 years old leads by 2 strokes after his great 1st round at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera. He shot a bogey-free, 9 under-par opening round. He currently sits in 2nd place in the Order of Merit Rank and captured his 1st full-field professional win at the 2023 Gösser Open which took place in May. He previously had played in some events in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic began but this is his 1st full year on the Alps Tour. Mullarney turned professional in 2019 and competed in the 2022 Open Championship. After his performance, he commented: “I’m very pleased, I played nice and putted quite well. Today I was able to birdie a lot of the par 5s and one eagle which definitely helped. The course is nice, the practice putting green is different than the course so it took a little while to get used to while I got out there.” He added that he’s “usually fairly aggressive off the tees hitting a lot of drivers, and I plan to keep doing that the next two rounds and hopefully I keep putting well.”
Kevin Hesbois from Belgium, 32 years old who currently represents Ternesse Golf & Country Club, concluded his 1st round with a 7 under-par, 64 and is one of the three players tied for 2nd place only 2 strokes back. He made 1 eagle, 6 birdies and 1 bogey during his opening round. After his round, Hesbois commented on how well he played, “Today was fun and I obviously played well all day. On the front nine, I hit it close a couple times which helped create the momentum for the round. I was able to finish strong as well which is always nice when you have it going low.” Hesbois went on to add that: “course is really good. Conditions are good and promote low scoring. Wind was a small factor. The warmth was harder to manage. I have no real expectations this week. Just going to keep focusing on the right things. Only goal is to give myself as many birdie chances as possible and stay as patient as possible. Scores will take care of themselves.”
Netherland’s Bob Geurts, 24 years old is the second player tied for 2nd place with a first-round score of 7 under-par. He turned professional towards the end of last year and prior to this week, his best finishes were a tie for 11th place at the 2023 Gösser Open and at the 2023 Croara Alps Open. During today’s round, he made 1 eagle, 4 birdies and 1 bogey on the front nine and 1 bogey and 3 birdies on the back nine for a 64. After his round, Geurts was happy that he “hit the ball great and put myself in good spots to make birdies. It was a really solid day of golf. I tried to keep it simple and put a good round together.” He also commented that Tecina Golf “is great, it’s a relaxing and nice course. I love the layout and the fact that there wasn’t a lot of wind today was very fortunate.”
Twenty-six years old, Davide Buchi from Italy is the third player tied for 2nd place after his opening bogey- free 7 under-par, 64. He currently represents Golf Club Varese and has gathered a couple of top 20 finishes so far this season. Buchi began his round with 2 birdies and an unbelievable albatross on the par 5, 3rd hole in his first four holes. After his bogey-free round, Buchi happily commented that “I hit a great iron shot but I’d never thought that it would go in. It’s my first albatross of my career. It for sure gave me good momentum for the remaining of the round. I want to keep thinking about my own game and keep playing well like today. The course is in excellent conditions and the rough isn’t too high, therefor we will be able to go low.”
In the 3-way tie for 5th place at 6 under-par: France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy, Ireland’s Michael Young and Spanish amateur Jose Antonio Sintes Navarro.
The highlight of the day belongs to Italy’s Davide Buchi who made an incredible albatross on the 500 meters par 5, 3rd hole.

The second round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera will begin again at 8:20 am local time from the 1st and 10thhole. After round 2, a cut will be made to the top 40 players and ties.
The players are contending a prize fund of €40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points

This will be the 4th edition of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera after its previous three editions which were hosted in 2018, 2019 and 2022. As we are head towards the final stretch of the season, players are competing for important Order of Merits points.
Tecina Golf has been the stage where great talents have developed who today are considered some of the best players in the world. La Gomera has been a European destination for professional golf for the past 12 years, including hosting a Challenge Tour event for 8 consecutive years.
Last year’s title was captured by Netherland’s Vince Van Veen with a total score of 15 under-par.
Seven of this season past winners will attend the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps de la Gomera: England’s Jack Floydd winner of the first tournament of the season the 2023 Ein Bay Open, Spain’s Quim Vidal winner of the 2023 Red Sea Little Venice Open, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney winner of the 2023 Gösser Open, Italy’s Luca Cianchetti winner of the inaugural 2023 Croara Alps Open, Spain’s Jose Manuel Pardo Benitez winner of the 2023 Alps de Andalucía, Netherland’s Lars Keunen winner of the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open and our most recent winner at the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand, Italy’s Manfredi Manica.
Current Order of Merit leader Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele who captured 3 wins this season: the 2023 Alps de Las Castillas, the 2023 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON and the 2023 Open de La Mirabelle d’Or will not be competing as he earned himself a Challenge Tour card for the remainder of this season as well as the 2024 season.
On the other hand, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney who won the 2023 Gösser Open and second in the rank as well as England’s Jack Floydd who is currently third in the rank and winner of the season opener in Egypt will be in the field to try and secure their Challenge Tour status for next year. Alongside them all the remaining players in the top 10 of the current standings will be competing in the Canary Islands.
The 102 players estimated to compete this week, will contend a prize fund of € 40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. There are 16 nations represented among the players which will compete for the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera title.
As there aren’t many events remaining in the 2023 season, the players are eagerly competing to earn a spot in the top 5 Order of Merit rank which at the end of the season, will give them access to the 2024 Challenge Tour.
The 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera will be played as a 54 holes stroke play and a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties.

The Course
Tecina Golf will be played as a 6343 meters par 71 course. The golf course was designed by British architect Donald Steel, and is located on the hill of Lomada de Tecina specifically on the Canary Island of La Gomera, which was declared a World Biosphere Reserve in 2012.
It’s a demanding course made up of 18 holes course, which overlook the Atlantic Ocean and all 18 holes are played facing the ocean, surrounded by a lush sample of Canary flora. It is set in the middle of a native Canary Islands vegetation such as banana and mango fruit trees succumbing to an unbelievable scenery. To reach the 1st tee, the players will need to climb up the hill and the course is played downhill from there.

Aravell, July 1st 2023- Italy’s Manfredi Manica comes from behind to win his 1st professional tournament by 1 stroke, the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand. In 2nd place, with a three-day score of 14 under-par, Ireland’s Paul McBride. In third place at 12 under-par, Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue and there is a three-way tie for 4th place at 9 under-par which includes: Italy’s Edoardo R Lipparelli, Spanish amateur Joseba Torres and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy.
The final round of the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand being played at gorgeous Aravell Golf & Country Club began at 8:40 this morning under mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures. This was the 2nd edition of the event, which was created last year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the host golf course.
Italy’s Manfredi Manica captures his 1st professional win at the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand by 1 stroke. He shot a bogey-free final round of 5 under-par, 66 with 4 birdies in his last 6 hole for a three-day total at 15 under-par. He is 27 years old, turned professional at the end of 2021 and currently represents Golf Nazionale. After he sealed his 1st win, Manica was very emotional: “Today is a very emotional day, especially my back nine. I believe the key was to stay patient. I struggled with my putting on the first few holes but hit some great shots. Paul was playing great and I didn’t think I had a chance. On the 15thhole when I saw Paul struggled I managed to birdie and started to believe I had a chance. I went on to birdie 16 and 17 and tried to par 18th and see what happened.” When asked about what this win means to him, he added: “This obviously means the world to me. It’s a short season so every tournament is important this season and after this win the rest will be even more important as I now want to be in the top 5 at the end of the season.”
Paul McBride from Ireland concluded the tournament in 2nd place, only 1 stroke from the title. He was close to the top of the leaderboard all week and was in the lead after yesterday’s 2nd round. He shot a 2 under-par 69 today with 1 double bogey, 2 bogeys and 6 birdies for a three-day total of 14 under-par. He is 27 years old and represents The Island Golf Club.The tournament ends with Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue in 3rd place with a three-day score of 12 under-par. The 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand is promoted by former DP World Tour winner, Spain’s José Manuel Lara. He captured 2 wins during his professional playing career in 2006 in Hong Kong and in 2010 at the Austrian Golf Open.
The economic promoter of the tournament is Aravell Golf & Country Club and the title sponsorship of this week’s event belongs to Creand, which was named Crèdit Andorrà during the last edition of the tournament before the launching of its new brand Creand took place.
