Irish Amateur Sam Murphy Takes the Lead After Round 2 at the Q-School Final Stage.

Rome, November 13th, 2025- Sam Murphy of Ireland (amateur) leads the way after Round 2 at the 2025 Alps Tour Qualifying School Final Stage with a two-day total of 11-under-par. In solo second place is Italy’s Luca Cavalli at 9-under-par, while a two-way tie for third place at 7-under-par features the French duo Hermes Ferchaud and Alexis Leray.

A cool morning that gradually gave way to warmer temperatures and mostly sunny skies set the scene for the second round. A field of 156 players is competing for 2026 Alps Tour playing privileges across two venues: Golf Nazionale (Par 72) and Terre dei Consoli Golf Club (Par 72). For today’s round, the players switched courses from those played yesterday.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Irish amateur Sam Murphy, who opened the tournament with a 3-under-par 69 at Terre dei Consoli, delivered a stunning bogey-free 8-under-par 64 at Golf Nazionale during today’s second round to move into the lead with a two-day total of 11-under-par. He carded birdies on holes 2, 3, 7, and 11, then added three consecutive birdies from holes 14 to 16 before closing his round with another birdie on the 18th hole. Murphy now finds himself at the top of the leaderboard heading into tomorrow’s final round. Reflecting on his strong performance, Murphy said, “I played really good today; it was nice and solid all around. I struggled a little bit yesterday but found a few feelings coming home and was able to keep that momentum throughout today, and it was nice to put together a bogey-free 8-under-par round.” He went on to explain how strategy played a key role in his round, adding, “This course is much more about placement compared to yesterday’s course, especially in relation to the pins. I spoke to my caddie, and you have either green- or red-light putts around here, and today I was able to have a lot of green-light putts, which was nice.” Looking ahead, Murphy shared his plans and mindset for the final round: “I plan on probably turning pro after this week. I’m still competing as an amateur as we wanted to see how this week would go — and it’s obviously going well so far. I’m going to do what I did the past few days: go home and rest a bit, then go to dinner and look back at today to see what I did well and what I need to improve on for tomorrow. I’m very much looking forward to the round.”

Luca Cavalli, 20, of Italy, continued his impressive form during today’s second round. After opening the tournament with a strong 6-under-par 66, he added a steady 3-under-par 69 at Golf Nazionale to hold solo second place at 9-under-par heading into the final round. Cavalli began his day on the 10th hole, making birdies on holes 11, 14, and 16 before dropping a shot on the 17th hole. After the turn, he added another birdie on the 1st hole to complete another consistent performance as he stays firmly in contention for the 2026 Alps Tour card. “I played really well today again; I putted very well, that was probably the best. I’m very proud of the work I’ve done over the past two months that got me to this point. I want to keep the same feelings for tomorrow and try to put together another good round,” said Cavalli.

Tied for third place at 7-under-par after two rounds are France’s: Hermes Ferchaud and Alexis LerayFerchaud, 24, began his second round on the 1st hole at Golf Nazionale and opened with a birdie. He added another on the 7th before a setback bogey on the 8th hole. On the back nine, he went on an impressive birdie run from holes 14 through 18 to close with a 6-under-par, 66. Leray posted a solid 4-under-par, 68 at Terre dei Consoli in Round 2, carding five birdies and a single bogey.

France’s Matthieu Bey, made a hole-in-one during his Round 2 at Golf Nazionale on the 148-meter, 3rd hole with an 8-iron.

I knew I had a chance to recover, and that’s what I did.”  He added: “I like this course a bit more than Golf Nazionalewhere I’ll be playing tomorrow, but I also have good memories there from the past, so we’ll keep fighting. I just want to keep playing my game. I’m playing really well, I trained a lot ahead of this tournament, so I need to stay patient, I’m confident it will be a good week.”

Overall, I have great feelings, and I hope to have the same tomorrow.” Cavalli added: “I know Golf Nazionale very well, actually better than this one, so I hope to have some insight knowledge which will help me with a good score. But since I’m already playing good golf and I have good feelings, I’m optimistic for a good round. Definitely being patient,  that’s going to be the most important aspect I’ll be focusing on over the next two days.”

Following his playoff triumph, Aguirre Izcue was visibly emotional, reflecting the significance of the win, “I’m very happy right now, it’s awesome,” he said. “It was incredible to compete with my friend Javier in the playoff. I didn’t look at the leaderboard all day, and when I finished, I saw there were two players at -13. I thought I might have a chance for a playoff, and it was a real pleasure to go up against Javier, who’s a very good friend of mine. Today, I came out on top, maybe next time it’ll be his turn.” Aguirre Izcue also spoke about the importance of finishing the season on a high note: “I’m proud of myself. I knew that to have a chance at earning one of the cards, I needed to finish strong. I was second last week and won today; it’s very rewarding to see the hard work pay off. ” Reflecting on his journey, he added: “I’ve been on the Alps Tour for the past three seasons, and it’s helped me grow tremendously, both as a player and as a person. It pushes you to keep improving, and each season becomes more competitive. I’m really looking forward to what’s next and wish all the players on the Alps Tour the best.”

Spain’s Javier Barcos, 23, has officially clinched the top spot in the 2025 Alps Tour Order of Merit, earning one of the coveted 2026 HotelPlanner Tour cards. Barcos had an outstanding season, highlighted by victories at the New Giza Open and the Longwy Alps Open, and maintained his lead in the rankings from mid-season onward. He capped off his impressive year with a runner-up finish at the Regione Lazio Alps Tour Grand Final, narrowly missing out on the title after a sudden-death playoff against fellow Spaniard Asier Aguirre Izcue“Today was great, being in contention is always super nice,” said Barcos“It’s all the adrenaline you feel, that’s what we play for.” Reflecting on his season, Barcos shared his satisfaction in achieving more than he set out to do: “2025 was a great year and a great season. Winning the Order of Merit was the main goal — actually, my original goal was just to finish in the Top 5, so to win it is a little extra. I’m very happy.” He also praised the impact of the tour on his growth, both on and off the course: “The Alps Tour is just incredible, the players, the staff, everyone is super nice. We’ve had a lot of Spanish players too, which has helped me grow both as a player and as a person.” Despite the strong finish, Barcos admitted there’s still more he hopes to accomplish, “I was trying to win a third title for a while. I came pretty close these past few weeks, and especially today, I felt like I played well enough to win, but let it slip a little at the end. It leaves me hungry for more.” Sharing a final thought on the emotional playoff battle with Aguirre Izcue, he added: “Battling in the last tournament of the year with Asier, who has been my friend since I started playing golf, was very special. Hopefully next season goes just as well — and we keep having fun along the way.”

With the Regione Lazio Alps Tour Grand Final nearing its thrilling conclusion, the stakes have never been higher. The season-ending event continued today with players battling for position ahead of tomorrow’s decisive final round. More than just the prestigious Grand Final title is up for grabs; the top five players in the Final Order of Merit will earn highly coveted 2026 HotelPlanner Tour category 12b cards, offering a vital step forward in their professional careers. As tension builds, every swing could shape the future of these rising stars.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Spain’s Javier Barcos, 23, a two-time winner this season and the current leader of the Alps Tour Order of Merit, continues to set the pace. After opening with a 6-under-par 66, Barcos matched that score again in round two, carding another 66 to reach a two-day total of 12-under-par and maintain a one-shot lead heading into the final round. His second round featured seven birdies on holes 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, and 18, with his only mistake coming on the par-4 2nd hole, where he made bogey. Despite the pressure of leading, Barcos remained composed and focused on execution: “Today was another good day, I hit great putts and shots all around, even though I had a slow start. I was able to pick it up mid-round.” His approach remains firmly grounded in staying present and adhering to what works. “I want to remain in the present, I don’t want to think about anything else other than my golf game and what I can control. I’ll begin on hole 1, trying to do what I’ve been doing these past few days, which has obviously worked well.” Barcos also shared that he’s intentionally tuning out the leaderboard pressure. “I didn’t look at the scoreboard the whole day,  I only checked it on 18 after I finished. I plan to do the same tomorrow. Maybe on holes 16 or 17, if I feel the need to make more comfortable swings, I’ll check it. Otherwise, I’ll just keep hitting good shots and doing the best I can.”

Augustin Holé, 28, from France, the 2023 Alps Tour Grand Final winner at Asolo Golf Club, surged into contention today with an impressive second-round performance at Golf Nazionale. Following an opening round of 3-under-par 69, Holé fired a superb 8-under-par 64 to climb to 2nd place on the leaderboard heading into the final day. His round featured nine birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, and the closing 18th hole, with his only blemish coming on the 15th hole after an errant tee shot led to a bogey. Holé began the week 19th in the Order of Merit and is aiming for a strong finish to improve his ranking and potentially claim a second Grand Final title. Reflecting on his performance, he was pleased to see his hard work paid off: “It was a great round today — 64 — it feels incredible to be in contention,” Holé said. “I’ll probably be top 3 after the round, so it makes me very happy. The past few weeks have been tough, so having a round like this makes me really satisfied with the work I’ve been doing with my team and my caddie.” He also praised the setup and playing conditions at Golf Nazionale“It’s very nice to play on such a good golf course. Conditions are amazing, the weather is good, and the greens are excellent, probably some of the best we’ve had all year. When you’re playing well and you know the greens are this good, it’s easier to make putts.” Looking ahead to the final round, Holé remains focused and optimistic: “I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s round. I’ve been in contention a few times this year but wasn’t able to get the win, so I’ll do my best to go for it tomorrow. There are a lot of good players out here, so it’ll be a battle, but I’m very excited about it.”

Spain’s Javier Calles Roman, 23, delivered a remarkable turnaround at Golf Nazionale today, setting a new course record with a stunning 10-under-par 62. After opening with a 3-over-par 75 yesterday, Calles Roman now sits at 7-under for the tournament and in a 2-way tie for 5th place heading into the final round. His second-round surge included birdies on holes 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, and 18, a testament to his precision and composure under pressure. Entering the week ranked 7th in the Order of Merit, Calles Roman is firmly in contention to climb the standings to try and secure one of the five coveted 2026 HotelPlanner Tour category 12b cards awarded to the top finishers. Following his record-breaking round, Calles Roman reflected on the key to his great round: “All parts of my game were really good, I just kept believing,” he said. “Yesterday was just as good, but the round didn’t go my way. I kept doing the same thing, and the putts started to drop. The course can give it to you and take it away.” He credited preparation and mental discipline as key components of today’s performance: “I made a really good plan with my coaches and did a really good job sticking to it today. I plan to do the same tomorrow. It was very important to stay patient and keep doing the same thing, and thanks to my sports psychologist back home, I was able to do it, and it made all the difference.”

Javier Barcos Takes Opening-Round Lead at Regione Lazio Grand Final.

Sutri, October 16th, 2025 – After the opening round of the Regione Lazio Grand Final, the leaderboard is tightly packed. Spain’s Javier Barcos leads with a 6-under-par round. In a closely contested tournament, there is a 3-way tie for 2nd place at 5 under-par, featuring France’s Theo Brizard, Italy’s Marco Florioli, and Ludovico Addabbo. In 5th place, Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue.

The season concludes this week as the top-ranked players contend for the coveted title of Regione Lazio Alps Tour Grand Final Champion. At stake is more than just the trophy; five sought-after 2026 HotelPlanner Tour category 12b playing cards await the leading five players in the Final Order of Merit.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Spain’s Javier Barcos, 23, who is a two-time season winner and currently leads the Alps Tour Order of Merit, leads after the 1st round of the Regione Lazio Grand Final. He shot an opening round of 6 under-par,66, He gained momentum mid-round with a birdie on the 6th, an eagle on the 7th, and another birdie on the 8th hole. He added two more birdies on the 10th and 14th holes before a setback bogey on the 15th hole, ultimately finishing strong with a birdie on the par-5 18th. Reflecting on his performance, Barcos said: “Today I played really good from the tee to the green. Even though the putts didn’t drop at the beginning, I knew I had to be patient. I had a great momentum change where I went birdie, eagle, birdie, which helped me keep going.” Barcos is looking to close out the season on a high note. “It’s awesome to be in the lead after the opening round and lead the Order of Merit here at the Final,” he added. “It makes me want to come out here and show why I’m first overall. I’m very happy with how things went today, and hopefully the next two rounds will go just as well.” Having competed on this course multiple times, Barcos believes his experience played a role in his performance. “I played here last year during the Alps Tour Q-School and again last month at the HotelPlanner Tour event,” he said. “I strongly believe those extra rounds are an advantage, especially off the tees, as there are some holes where you really need to know where you can and can’t miss.”

France’s Théo Brizard, 25, holds a share of 2nd place after carding a 5-under-par 67 in the opening round. He recovered quickly from a bogey on the 1st hole, posting birdies on the 2nd, 7th, 9th, and 14th, before closing his round in style with a spectacular eagle on the par-5 18thBrizard, who has recorded several top 10 finishes, came into the week ranked 42nd in the Order of Merit. “I began with a bogey on the 1st, but it didn’t really affect me too much,” he said. “I kept a good attitude the whole day and was really focused on my strategy. I knew that if I was able to do what I wanted, the birdies would come. I missed the cut last week at the pre-Q1 but made a lot of birdies, so it really meant a lot to me to come here and make the least number of mistakes, especially off the tees. I didn’t putt great, but made a few clutch ones that made a difference.” Looking ahead to the rest of the tournament, Brizard added, “This course is very complicated to be aggressive on, so for the next two days, I want to stay focused on my strategy. You must hit as many fairways as possible and be very respectful on the greens, as downhill putts can be very complicated. I’ll focus on having my speed dialed in as much as possible, and I look forward to competing tomorrow.”

Marco Florioli, 20, from Italy, is in a three-way tie for 2nd place with Brizard after an opening round of 5 under-par, 67. During his first round, he made 1 eagle on hole 7, 5 birdies (holes 2, 9, 11, 14, and 18), and 2 bogeys on holes 4 and 17. His best finish so far this season is a 6th place at the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AonFlorioli, who entered this week in 38th place, is looking for a good performance this week to move up in the standings, and he made a confident start. “I’m pretty happy with today’s round. I played solid from the beginning of the day,” Florioli said. “I went into some trouble on hole 17 and 18, but I was able to recover well and finish with a chip-in on hole 18 for birdie. The course is tough; the fairways are firm, and the wind we had made it even more challenging. However, I love this course and it’s a great venue for the season finale.”

Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo, 27, joins Brizard and Florioli in a share of 2nd place after carding a 5-under-par 67 in the opening round of the Regione Lazio Grand FinalAddabbo recorded six birdies on holes 2, 5, 10, 15, 16, and 18, with his only blemish coming on the 9th hole due to a three-putt bogey. His best result this season is 4th place at the Longwy Alps Open“I played solid golf all round and it was a good day,” said Addabbo, who began the week in 33rd position in the Order of Merit and is aiming to capitalize on his strong start at a course he knows well. “The sun is out, the course is in good condition, and the greens are fast, so it was a perfect start to the tournament. I think I hit every green today, so my long game was very solid. I gave myself a lot of chances, and knowing I need a good result this week, I’m very pleased with how I began.” Reflecting on the advantage of competing close to home, he added, “I’m a home player, I live 40 minutes from here and have played a lot of golf on this course. It’s important to know where you can and can’t miss, and how to take advantage of some specific holes.”
