He sealed the win with a birdie on the second playoff hole, edging out Spain’s Jorge Maicas. In 3rd place, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney with a three-day total of 18 under-par. In 4th place with a total score of 16 under-par, France’s Quentin Debove.

The 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners marked a historic first as it joined forces with the Alps Tour, elevating the prestige of Continental Europe’s oldest amateur event. Held at the renowned Golf de Biarritz Le Phare, the tournament now features top amateurs and professionals from across Europe. Past champions include José María Olazábal and Jorge Campillo.

Final Round Players Quotes

France’s Victor Dubuisson, 35, a former Ryder Cup player and two-time DP World Tour winner, clinched the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners after a dramatic two-hole sudden-death playoff against Spain’s Jorge Maicas. Both players made par on the first playoff hole, but Dubuisson secured the victory with a birdie on the second. Known for his exceptional short game and composure under pressure, Dubuisson brought valuable experience to the event. A standout in European golf, his rare appearance on the Alps Tour offered younger players a unique opportunity to compete alongside one of France’s most accomplished professionals. After sitting tied for fourth place at 11-under-par through two rounds, he delivered a flawless final round of 8-under-par 61, carding nine birdies (holes 1, 5, 6, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 18) and a single bogey on the 13th. Reflecting on the week, Dubuisson said: “I’m very happy, and especially pleased for Gerald. He’s the title sponsor of the tournament and the one who invited me to play this week. We met through golf and developed a strong friendship. I admire how he supports young golfers and professionals—that’s created a special bond between us. I’m also proud to coach some of his players, and this week, the plan was for him to caddie for me so we could experience the tournament together. It definitely turned out to be a great week.” He added: “You couldn’t ask for a better sponsor than Gerald or a more professionally organized tournament than this edition of the Biarritz Cup. It was a real pleasure to be part of it.” Commenting on his 18th hole birdie, Dubuisson said: “Those putts are never easy—especially uphill ones, which I don’t particularly like—and I had a few more than usual today. But once you hit a good putt, it’s out of your hands whether it drops or not. That last one was an excellent putt to finish with.”

Spain’s Jorge Maicas, 27, secured a strong runner-up finish at this week’s event with a three-day total of 19-under-par. Maicas delivered a flawless final round of 9-under-par 60, carding nine birdies on holes 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14, and 15. The performance capped off an impressive week for the rising Spanish talent, who captured his first Alps Tour title earlier this season at the 2025 Gösser Open.

The highlight of the day belongs to French amateur Gregoire Hoyeau, who made a fabulous hole-in-one on the par 3, 7th hole with a 6-iron.

After the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, the Alps Tour Order of Merit rank has Javier Barcos from Spain in the lead with 22,517.34 points. Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa is in second place with 21,506.63 points, and Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela is in third place with 20,248.13.

Biarritz, July 26th, 2025- After two rounds of the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, the competition remains fierce with a tightly packed leaderboard setting the stage for an exciting final day. Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney leads at 15 under-par. Just one stroke behind is French amateur Rudy Sautron at 14 under-par, while Italy’s Matteo Cristoni holds solo third place at 12 under-par. Tied for 4th place at 11 under-par are France’s Victor DubuissonAugustin Holé, and Quentin Debove, all well within reach as the tournament heads into its decisive final round.

The 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners marks a historic first as it joins forces with the Alps Tour, elevating the prestige of Continental Europe’s oldest amateur event. Held at the renowned Golf de Biarritz Le Phare, the tournament now features top amateurs and professionals from across Europe. Past champions include José María Olazábal and Jorge Campillo.

This week’s event is crucial in the Alps Tour season, offering valuable Order of Merit points with only a handful of events left. The top five by season’s end will earn 2026 HotelPlanner Tour cards, while the top six players here (including amateurs), up to ten not otherwise exempt, will gain entry to Stage 1 of the 2025 DP World Tour Qualifying School. With the Grand Final approaching, the stakes are higher than ever.

Round 2 Players’ Quotes

Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, 29, who was tied for third place after the opening round with a 6-under-par 63, continued his strong form with a bogey-free 9-under-par 60 in today’s second round to move into the lead at the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, with a two-day total of 15-under-par. Mullarney, earned two victories during the 2023 season, which secured him the Order of Merit title and earned the promotion to the 2024 HotelPlanner Tour. In his impressive 9-under round, he recorded seven birdies on holes 3, 4, 8, 9, 11, 13, and 16, along with an eagle on the par-5 15th hole. “I’m delighted with how I played today,” Mullarney said. “I shot a decent score yesterday, but it wasn’t as clean as it was today. It was a little bit less of a struggle, and a few more putts dropped, so I was happy.” He credited his preparation for the performance, adding, “I studied the course a bit before I came here, and I truly believe this is a strategy golf course—it’s not very long. I was able to set my strategy ahead of time, and now I’m putting it into play as much as possible, relying on my wedges and putting.” Despite the strong finish, there was a hint of unfinished business. “It would have been nice to drop the last putt on 18, but I guess it sums up golf pretty well when you shoot 60 and still feel a bit disappointed,” Mullarney reflected. “Hopefully tomorrow I can put together something similar.”

French amateur Rudy Sautron, 19, continued his impressive form at the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, following up his opening 7-under-par 62 with another 62 in today’s second round to sit just one stroke off the lead at 14-under-par. After opening with back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2, Sautron made his only bogey of the day at the 4th hole before going on a strong run, carding birdies at holes 6, 11, 12, and 14, and holing a remarkable 50-foot eagle putt on the par-5 15th hole to cap off his round. A standout collegiate golfer at the University of NebraskaSautron has earned multiple accolades, including Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week, and recently claimed victory at the Indian Creek Invitational, which secures him a start on the Korn Ferry Tour’s upcoming Pinnacle Bank Championship“It went pretty well, you know. Putting was on point along with the long game,” Sautron said. “I got a good eagle on 15 today, which allowed me to be more in contention, it’s a great feeling!” Looking ahead, he added, “I’ll try to stay present and not focus on the leaderboard. Just play my game and let the birdies come.” As for his professional ambitions, Sautron shared, “I plan to turn professional in two years after I finish my degree in Nebraska. Ideally, I’d like to pursue the Korn Ferry Tour in the U.S. But no, even if I win tomorrow, I promised myself I’d complete my college degree first.” Reflecting on the round, he noted, “The eagle on 15 was definitely the highlight. But I’d say my iron game toward the end of the round was a weakness. I’ll work on being more consistent to give myself a real chance to win this tournament tomorrow.”

In solo third place with a two-day total of 12-under-par is Italy’s Matteo Cristoni,23, who fired a 6-under-par 63 in today’s second round. His scorecard included six birdies, two bogeys, and an eagle.

In a three-way tie for fourth place at 11 under-par after two rounds are former Ryder Cup player and two-time DP World Tour winner Victor DubuissonAlps Tour winner Augustin Holé, and fellow Frenchman Quentin Debove.

Debove delivered a remarkable bogey-free 10-under-par in today’s second round, tying the course record at Golf de Biarritz Le Phare. He carded birdies on holes 1, 3, 4, and 8, then continued his momentum on the back nine with three consecutive birdies from holes 10 to 12, followed by another three in a row from hole 14 to hole 16. “It was my first round ever that I was able to go below 60,” said Debove“I made 10 birdies and no bogey—it’s the unofficial course record here. I’m very excited and looking forward to competing tomorrow to hopefully try and get the title.”

A total of 43 players including 12 amateurs made the cut which was set at 133 (-5).

The Final Round will begin at 7:30 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 10:00 a.m. local time from the 1st hole.

Victor Dubuisson and Rudy Sautron (am) Lead After Round 1 at the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners.

Biarritz, July 25th, 2025- After the opening round of the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, the leaderboard is tightly packed. France’s Victor Dubuisson, alongside amateur Rudy Sautron, share the lead with an impressive 7 under-par,62. In a closely contested race, there is a 6-way tie for 3rd place at 6 under-par, featuring the Netherlands’ Lars Keunen and Jerry Ji, Italy’s Matteo Cristoni, France’s Benjamin Kedochim and amateur Louka Morin, and Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney.

The 126th edition of the Biarritz Cup marks a historic milestone, as the prestigious amateur tournament is co-sanctioned with the Alps Tour for the first time. Held at the iconic Golf de Biarritz Le Phare, it brings together leading amateurs and professionals from across Europe, enhancing its competitive stature and international appeal. Founded in 1899, the Biarritz Cup is Continental Europe’s oldest amateur event and has seen champions such as José María Olazábal and Jorge Campillo grace its fairways.

This week’s event plays a pivotal role in the Alps Tour season, with players competing not only for the tournament title but also for crucial points in the Order of Merit. The top five at the end of the 2025 season will earn their cards for the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour, while the top six players (including amateurs), up to ten not otherwise exempt, after this week’s event, will receive exemptions into Stage 1 of the 2025 DP World Tour Qualifying School. With only a few events remaining before the Alps Tour Grand Final, the pressure is mounting for those chasing a spot among the Tour’s elite.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Former Ryder Cup player and two-times DP World Tour winner, France’s Victor Dubuisson, 35, is in a share of the lead after the opening round of the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners with a 7 under-par, 62. Known for his exceptional short game and composure under pressure, Dubuisson brings valuable experience to the event. A standout in European golf, his rare appearance on the Alps Tour gives younger players a chance to compete alongside one of France’s top professionals. He carded a bogey-free round, with birdies on holes 8 and 10, followed by four consecutive birdies from hole 12 to hole 15, and ended his day with a clutch birdie putt from over 10 meters on the 18th hole to take the lead.“It was a great day today, the course is in great condition. It’s a tricky course—quite short but very challenging. The greens aren’t easy to read,” Dubuisson said. “I started well on the first few holes, even though I missed some putts, but I stayed patient as I was hitting the ball really well. I left a few birdie putts out there, but I made two good birdies at the end, so overall I’m happy with the day.” Reflecting on his final putt, Dubuisson added, “On 18, I was between two clubs, my 52 and my wedges. The out-of-bounds is only a few meters behind the green, so I went with the shorter club, knowing I could be a maximum of 10 meters short. In the end, I was 15 meters short but made a solid birdie putt. It was a perfect putt, and with all the putts I left out there today, it was a great way to finish.”

French amateur Rudy Sautron, 19, shares the lead with Victor Dubuisson after an impressive opening round of 7-under-par 62. Sautron delivered a flawless, bogey-free performance with birdies at holes 1, 6, 10, 11, and 15, and capped off his round in spectacular fashion with an eagle on the par-4 18th. A standout collegiate player, Sautron has earned multiple honors, including Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week, and recently secured a win at the Indian Creek Invitational. That victory also earned him a spot in the upcoming Korn Ferry Tour’s Pinnacle Bank Championship.“I’m pretty happy about my game today—I shot a good 7 under,” said Sautron“On this golf course, you need to hit some good shots and make some good putts, and that’s what I was able to do, especially on the back nine. I missed some short putts throughout the day, but the eagle on 18 cancelled all my misses.” Reflecting on the dramatic finish, Sautron added: “I hit a good drive on 18 and put it to 50 feet for eagle and made it, so it was an easy jump from 5 under to 7 under. It was incredible and definitely allows me to bring some good momentum into tomorrow.”

In a 6-way tie for 3rd place after the first round, all at 6 under-par, 63, are: Lars Keunen and Jerry Ji from the Netherlands; Italy’s Matteo CristoniBenjamin Kedochim from France, alongside his compatriot Louka Morin(amateur) and Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney.

Lars Keunen is a two-time Alps Tour winner, with titles at the 2020 Ein Bay Open and the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf OpenJerry Ji secured his first professional title at the 2025 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand, while Italy’s Matteo Cristoni is still seeking his maiden Alps Tour victory this week. Benjamin Kedochim, the 2024 Alps Tour Order of Merit winner, earned one of the coveted 2025 HotelPlanner Tour cards. Competing this week in his hometown of Biarritz, Kedochim delivered six top-three finishes during the 2024 season, demonstrating remarkable consistency despite not claiming a win. Amateur Louka Morin, also from France, is a rising talent who made headlines in 2024 by becoming the first French player to win the Scottish Boys Open Championship—a milestone achieved just days before his 18th birthday. Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, meanwhile, claimed two victories during the 2023 season, which secured him the Order of Merit title and promotion to the 2024 HotelPlanner Tour.

With the race intensifying and the stakes high, all the players will face increasing pressure to make their move in Round 2 as they seek to improve their positions and contend for the title.

The 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners will be played as a 54 holes stroke play tournament where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 30 professional players and ties plus amateurs within the cut.

Also absent will be Switzerland’s Luca Galliano, winner of the 2025 Ein Bay Open.

This week’s tournament could prove decisive for Andrea Romano and Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela. Both players have secured two victories so far this season, and a third win would grant them immediate category status on the HotelPlanner Tour for the remainder of the year.

His presence is expected to draw significant interest from both fans and media, adding to the profile of an already strong tournament lineup.

Also competing this week are the last two Alps Tour Order of Merit winners: France’s Benjamin Kedochim, who won in 2024 and earned one of the coveted 2025 Challenge Tour (now HotelPlanner Tour) cards that was up for grabs. Competing this week as a hometown player from Biarritz, Kedochim achieved six top-three finishes throughout the 2024 season, demonstrating a high level of consistency throughout his performance, despite not securing a victory in any Alps Tour event.

Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney will also be in Biarritz. He is currently 7th in the Order of Merit rank and captured two titles during the 2023 season, which propelled him to win the ranking and secure his promotion for the 2024 HotelPlanner Tour season.

Players at this week’s event are competing not only for the tournament title, but also for valuable points in the season-long Order of Merit standings. Albacete, July 10th 2025- Italy’s Matteo Cristoni leads the field with a two-day total of 12 under-par after Round 2 of the 2025 Alps de Las Castillas. Just one stroke behind, in solo second place, Antonio Hortal from Spain with a score of 11 under-par. Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney is in solo third place at 10 under-par and will keep the pressure on the leaders heading into the final round.

Round 2 of the 2025 Alps de Las Castillas continued today at Club de Golf Las Pinaillas, with warm temperatures and sunny skies providing a picturesque backdrop as players competed to secure a strong position heading into the final round.

Players at this week’s event are competing not only for the tournament title, but also for crucial Order of Merit points, with the top five at the end of the 2025 Alps Tour season earning coveted 2026 HotelPlanner Tour cards, and the top six players, including amateurs, not otherwise exempt after the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners securing a Stage 1 exemption for the 2025 DP World Tour Qualifying School, up to a maximum of 10.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Italy’s Matteo Cristoni, 23, who was tied for 15th place after yesterday’s opening round, surged into the lead on day two with a stunning 9-under-par 63, bringing his two-day total to 12-under. Cristoni got off to a blistering start, recording seven birdies on the front nine (holes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9) to go out in 29. On the back nine, he dropped a shot on the 10th hole but quickly bounced back with a birdie on 11. A bogey followed on hole 12, but he ended his round strongly with birdies on 13, 14, and 16. Reflecting on his round, Cristoni said, “It went well, I played really solid from tee to green, leaving myself with a lot of opportunities to make birdies.” He credited his driving accuracy as a key factor on this course, adding, “I think you need to hit the driver well to be able to score here. The strategy is essential to avoid easy mistakes.” Looking ahead to the final round, he shared his approach: “I’m going to stick to my strategy and try to enjoy the round as much as possible.” Cristoni also noted a difference in playing conditions: “I feel like in the morning the ball rolls really well on the greens compared to the afternoon, so I would say that playing in the morning definitely helps.” He concluded by praising the course setup: “It’s a good layout where you can have fun playing it.”

Spain’s Antonio Hortal, 36, who led after the opening round, carded a 4-under-par 68 in today’s second round to move into 2nd place with a two-day total of 11-under-par. He made three birdies on the front nine and added an eagle on the par-5 14th hole, before closing with a bogey on the 18th hole. Reflecting on the day, Hortal said,“It was the same game tee to green, but today the putter didn’t work. I was pretty solid with the driver and the irons.” Despite the late bogey, he remained positive: “It was pretty nice overall, only one bogey on 18, and that came after a flyer from the rough and a bad chip. Someone sent me that bogey to remain focused for tomorrow.” Hortal emphasized the role of course strategy and physical condition in the heat: “I’ve been hitting almost every hole with the driver, which gives me an advantage from the tee. The strategy is working, now I just need to repeat the same and make sure I keep my body temperature under control to perform well.”

Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, 29, a two-time winner during the 2023 season, which propelled him to win the Order of Merit and secure his promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly known as the Challenge Tour) for the 2024 season, currently sits in third place after the second round of the tournament. After opening with a 2-under-par 70, Mullarney surged up the leaderboard with a bogey-free 8-under-par 64 in the second round, bringing his two-day total to 10-under. His round included birdies on holes 5, 6, 8, and 9 on the front nine, followed by four more on the back nine on holes 11, 13, 14, and 16. Reflecting on his performance, Mullarney admitted, “Up until today, I didn’t think the course really suited me. I played Q-School here last year, and it didn’t go great, but I played nicely today. The same again tomorrow would be nice.” He was particularly pleased with the clean scorecard, adding, “Overall, a good day of golf today, but what stands out the most to me is the bogey-free bit, which I like.” Known for his calm demeanor, Mullarney said, “There weren’t many highs and lows today, really, which is how I like it, to be honest.” Looking ahead to the final round, he emphasized the importance of recovery: “The main thing I’ll be focusing on is resting up for tomorrow. It’s really hot, so I’m going to get myself ready.” He also credited his early tee time as an advantage, saying, “Playing in the morning definitely helped. The front nine was really nice, and then it got really hot after that, but everyone has to deal with it.” On the course itself, Mullarney added, “It’s in excellent condition. All the courses we’ve played this year have been in great shape, which is always a bonus.”

The highlights of the day came from France’s Robin Roussel and Jersey’s Josef Hacker, who both recorded remarkable Holes-In-One during today’s second round of competition. Roussel aced the 118-meter 3rd hole using a 48° wedge, while Hacker achieved his ace on the 152-meter 7th hole using a 9-iron.

Final Round

A total of 44 players (40 professionals and 4 amateurs) made the cut, which was set at 140 (-4).

The Final Round will begin at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 9:17 a.m. local time from the 1st hole.

9th July 2025 | Alps Tour Golf

Antonio Hortal Leads after the Opening Round at the Alps de Las Castillas.

Albacete, July 9th, 2025- After the opening round of the 2025 Alps de Las Castillas, Spain’s Antonio Hortal leads the field with a superb 7-under-par 65. Italy’s Filippo Bergamaschi sits one shot back in solo second after posting a 6-under-par 66. Tied for third place at 5-under-par 67 are Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar and Marc Sabria, alongside Italy’s Mattia Comotti.

The first round of the 13th event of the season commenced this morning at Club de Golf Las Pinaillas in Spain. This is the second time the tournament has visited this specific province, following its previous edition in 2021. Competitors faced sunny skies and warm temperatures as the tournament officially got underway, setting the stage for an exciting tournament.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Spain’s Antonio Hortal, 36, holds the outright lead after the opening round of the 2025 Alps de Las Castillas, carding a bogey-free 7 under-par, 65. Hortal began his round on the 10th hole and quickly found his rhythm with birdies at the 11th and 14th holes. After making the turn to the front nine, he built strong momentum, adding a birdie on the 1st hole, an eagle on the par-5 4th, and another birdie on the 5th hole. He capped off his impressive round with a final birdie on the 9th hole to finish atop the leaderboard. “Today was a perfect day tee to green and some chip-ins helped me too,” Hortal said. “Maybe my putting wasn’t excellent, but it was good enough for a good round. My driving was probably the best part of the day; I was very solid and happy about it.” He highlighted a key moment at the 6th hole, saying, “The par on hole 6 was the highlight of my round as it came at a good time and allowed me to keep my momentum going.” With high temperatures throughout the day, Hortal also noted the physical demands of the round: “Today, it was sunny, windy, and very hot here. Maintaining my body temperature was a challenge, but it was very important for me to be able to do it as it allowed me to perform at my best.” Looking ahead, he remains focused: “Tomorrow is another day, and to have a good tournament, you need to play three good rounds of golf. I’m obviously far from the cut line, so it’s an advantage heading into tomorrow, where I’m able to compete without worrying about the rest. I will continue with the same strategy as I had today, the same club selections from the tees, and hopefully put together two more good days of golf.”

Filippo Bergamaschi, 33, from Italy, whose best finish so far this season is a runner-up at the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open in Tunisia, is in second place after the first round of the tournament. He has recorded several top-5 finishes and currently sits 16th in the Order of Merit rankings. Bergamaschi opened with a bogey-free 6 under-par, 66 to firmly place himself in contention, carding birdies on holes 2, 7, 9, 10, 12, and 14. “It was a really good round, overall, quite solid, and it’s always a nice feeling to go end the day with a bogey-free score,” he said. Despite the strong performance, he admitted that his driving was the biggest challenge.“The main struggle today was my driving. I hit a lot of shots from the rough, but I managed to keep it in play.” He relied on sharp iron play and steady putting to keep the round on track. “My irons were really solid today. I gave myself a few chances and was able to convert a few of them, on top of my putting being pretty sharp as well.” The standout moment came at the par-3, 7th, where he hit a controlled punch shot into the wind with a 7-iron to just four feet. Looking ahead, Bergamaschi remains focused. “It’s important to stay close to the top of the leaderboard, but 54 holes is a lot of golf to be played, and this is just the first part of it,” he said. “I’ll be trying to do the same things tomorrow, focus on the strategy, and hoping to be in a better position off the tees to make my life easier.”

In a three-way tie for third place after the first round, each with a 5-under-par 67, are Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar andMarc Sabria, along with Italy’s Mattia Comotti. Both Galiano Aguilar and Comotti carded bogey-free rounds, while Sabria’s score included five birdies, one eagle, and two bogeys. All three players credited their strong performances to solid driving and precise tee shot placement, combined with solid putting, which allowed them to sink several clutch putts.

Players at this week’s event are competing not only for the tournament title, but also for valuable points in the season-long Order of Merit standings. The top five players at the conclusion of the 2025 Alps Tour season will earn one of the coveted cards granting access to the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour. In addition, the top six players, including amateurs, from the Alps Tour Order of Merit standings after the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, up to 10, not otherwise exempt, will get an exemption for the Stage 1 of the 2025 DP World Tour Qualifying School.

Round 2

The second round of the tournament will commence tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. local time, with groups teeing off from both the 1st and 10th holes.

Once Round 2 is completed, a cut will be made to the top 40 professional players and ties, plus any amateurs who fall within the cut line. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.

The players are competing for a prize fund of €42,500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The 2025 Alps de las Castillas winner will walk away with €6,200.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

On the back nine, after a series of pars, he faced a bogey on the 14th hole but bounced back with a crucial birdie on the 17th, sealing his victory with a two-stroke margin. Romano also participated in last week’s DP World Tour Italian Open, further highlighting his rapid rise in professional golf. “I played really, really well today, especially on the front nine where I shot 8 under par without missing a single putt,” he said. Reflecting on today’s competition, Romano added, “It was a true honor for me to compete alongside Alvaro Quiros in the final round. He is a great player. I’ve known him since I was 17, when I had the chance to play a practice round with him at the Verdura Open on the DP World Tour. To be able to battle with him for the win today is something I will remember for a while.” Looking back at his recent form, Romano explained, “Playing the Italian Open last week helped me a lot because I played well, I finished, if I’m not mistaken, in the top 30, and it gave me more confidence competing out here. I know I can perform well; it’s a matter of confidence and abilities. If I can play well and have good results on the DP World Tour, it means I can do the same out here.” Concluding on a personal note, he said, “This win is for my family and mainly my mom, who has been there every step of the way. I will now enjoy it and refocus for next week.”

Spain’s Javier Barcos and Alvaro Quiros finished the week in a two-way tie for second place with a three-day total of 17 under par. In the final round, Barcos posted an impressive 8 under-par 63, while Quiros carded a 6 under-par 65.
