Juan Parron loves to play in Spain. His last win was on Challenge Tour in 2006, the Mahou Open de Madrid.

Today, former European tour player took the lead of the Peugeot Open de Emporda after first round. He signed for a 64, minus 7.

“ I played incredible, hit 18 greens, I only made 2 mistakes on greens, 2 times 3 putts, one on hole 6 for birdie and the other on 8 that I was on green in 2 putting for eagle. I was very relaxed. Last year I had the feeling that my game controlled me, and now I keep the control of the game, that is the big difference.”

At second position, one stroke behind,  a group of 3 very different players. French rookie Mattieu Bey and Spaniard Jesus Legarrea and Carlos Del Moral. Legarrea had a very good season last year and still waiting for maiden win. Del Moral, European Tour player, is a serious opponent.

“Last year, in summer I asked Olazabal for some advice about my short game and he has made great changes. It took me a while to get used to them but now it is perfect. Now that I feel confident in my short game, I don’t have pressure on long game. Olazabal is really an “A” as a player, as a man, he helps everybody, he is great.”

The leader of Alps Tour order of merit, Matteo Delpodio, is 13th with a score of 68.

The projected cut is -1.
