Rain disrupts round 2 of Gösser Open

The second round of the Gösser Open was heavily disrupted today by thunderstorms and rain showers that ultimately led to the cancelation of the day’s play halfway through the round.
Play first resumed after a 2-hour interruption before organizers decided to call players back to the clubhouse for good less at 16h45 local time.
«  It’s been raining here almost non stop for two weeks » tournament director Estelle Richard explained. «  The course can no longer drain the water » she added. Some players at the clubhouse said parts of the course were unplayable.
«  Round 2 will resume tomorrow morning at 7h00 local time » Richard announced. «  We will make our best effort to complete the tournament with a final round with a shotgun start » she concluded.
Santiago Tarrio (ESP) is the current leader at the clubhouse at -9. He is followed by Jurgen Maurer (AUT) and round 1 leader Teremoana Beaucousin (FRA) who are both at -7 after completing round 2.
«  I played well today, I missed a few putts but it’s quiet normal because the greens are tough here » Tarrio said. « I feel a bit tired, I’ve been playing quite a lot in the past few weeks but I will get some rest tonight to give my best tomorrow » he said. « I feel like I’m home with this weather, I’m from Galicia where it rains a lot » he concluded.
The GC Erzherzog Johann in Maria Lankowitz (Austria) is hosting the 26th edition of the Gösser Open through tomorrow.
