Buenavista del Norte, June 21st 2023- Netherland’s Lars Keunen comes from behind to win by 4 strokes his 2nd Alps Tourtitle, the co-sanctioned event with the Pro Golf Tour, the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open. He eagled the 18th hole of the day to shoot a 9 under-par bogey-free final round and tie the course record. In 2nd place, 4 strokes back, the season opener winner, England’s Jack Floydd. Only 1 stroke back, Ireland’s Paul Murphy with a three-day score of 17 under-par. To round out the top 4 spots, France’s Benjamin Kedochim in 4th place with a three-day total of 16 under-par.
The final round of the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf, co-sanctioned event with the Pro Golf Tour being played at the beautiful Buenavista Golf near Buenavista del Norte, Tenerife, Spain started this morning under sunny skies, a warm temperature and windy conditions. The players had the opportunity to compete under optimal scoring and weather conditions throughout the tournament.

Twentysix years old, Netherland’s Lars Keunen who represents The Dutch Golf Club, captured his 2nd Alps Tour title at the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open co-sanctioned event with a three-day score of 22 under-par. He wins by 4 strokes after a bogey-free 9 under-par, 62 final round tying the tournament course record. The record was previously established by Peter Nygren and tied during the 1st round of the tournament by England’s Jack Floydd and in the 2nd round by Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero. During today’s round he made 1 bogey, 6 birdies and 2 eagles, which one occurred on the 18thhole to seal the victory. Keunen has been close to the top of the leaderboards in the majority of the events this season and is happy to have captured his 2nd win. After he sealed his 2nd win, Keunen commented: “I kept playing good golf and this week I finally was able to capture the win. It’s been a really nice week, a really nice course, beautiful views and it was easy to enjoy it. I’m definitely very happy to have captured the trophy.” When asked about his plans, he added: “I’m going to keep focusing on the Alps Tour events and then maybe play a few Pro Tour events in August when we don’t have any Alps Tour events. Right now, I’m really happy with the way I played. I stayed patient throughout the past few weeks where I was close and wasn’t able to get it done but now I’m glad it payed off! It feels really good.”

Jack Floydd from England, winner of the season opener 2023 Ein Bay Open in Egypt concluded the tournament in 2nd place, 4 strokes from the title. After being in the lead at the end of the 1st round, he was tied for 3rd place at 13 under-par after yesterday’s second round. He shot a bogey-free 5 under-par,66 round today with 5 birdies. He is 26 years old and represents Haywards Heath Golf Club. When he finished, he was pleased of his “bogey-free final round today especially as the wind was blowing stronger than the first two rounds. My game is in a good spot even though I’m always trying to get better with my coaches and there are definitely a few things I will take away with me from this week moving forward. However, I’m overall happy with the week for sure.”
Ireland’s Paul Murphy concluded the tournament in 3rd place with a total score of 17 under-par. He is 25 years old and represents Rosslare Golf Links. He shot a bogey-free final round with 4 birdies and 1 eagle on the par 5, 5th hole. After his bogey-free final round, Murphy was proud of how he “played flawless in the final round, proud of myself for that. Few more putts would have been nice but I gave it my all. Starting the tournament with a 63, I knew and believed I’d be there come the end of the last day. All I had to do was put up a score and see what happened. Congratulations to Lars! It wasn’t an easy day. To win in style with a 62 is something else. I really enjoyed the overall experience of the tournament. Each week I have the opportunity to be the best I can be as a golfer. The coastal scenery was pretty spectacular this week also.”
France’s Benjamin Kedochim, who was tied for 14th place after round 2, had a bogey-free final round of 8 under-par,63 for a three-day total of 16 under-par. He concluded the tournament in 4th place. He made 8 birdies in his final round. Kedochim is 28 years old and currently represents Biarritz Le Phare. His best finish so far this season is a 2nd place at last week’s event at the Alps de Andalucía. After his bogey-free final round, he feels like “there wasn’t anything different from the past two rounds other than I got a few lucky bounces on 2 holes, I got a good bounce on 16 which then I was able to birdie and on 18 even if I didn’t make birdie. I stayed really focused, I made a clutch putt on the 4th hole and then took advantage on the 5thhole and 9th hole, two easy par 5.” He believes that he “didn’t play great but the putts dropped and I was able to score so it was a good day overall.” Kedochim added that his biggest takeaway from the past two weeks is that “I believe sometimes you only need to wait and your time will come. Do your best, don’t complain and stay in the present. You also must enjoy playing golf. I’ve never enjoyed playing like I currently am and the results are coming.”
After the 9th event of the season, Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele keeps the Alps Tour Order of Merit lead with Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney in 2nd place and this week’s winner, Netherland’s Lars Keunen who jumped into 3rd place. England’s Jack Floydd is in 4th place and Spain’s Quim Vidal closes out the top 5 spots.

It began as another beautiful day in the Canary Islands with sunny skies and warm temperatures for the 2nd round of the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open. The tournament is currently being played in the Canary Islands at Buenavista Golf near Buenavista del Norte, Tenerife, Spain. The 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open is co-sanctioned with the Pro Golf Tour, therefor the field is split between players belonging to both tours.
The second- round action began at 8:00 am local time this morning from both the 1st and 10th hole.
Round 2 Player Quotes
Gianmaria Rean Trinchero from Italy shot a bogey-free 9 under-par, 62 round today for a two-day total of 15 under-par and holds a one stroke lead ahead of tomorrow’s final round at the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open. He turned 28 years old yesterday and represents Golf Club Monticello. With his 9 under-par, 62 in today’s round, Rean Trinchero ties the tournament course record which was previously set by Peter Nygren. When he signed for his incredible bogey-free round, he was very satisfied: “I barely made any mistakes today which is very satisfying. I never had the opportunity to make bogey which is something that doesn’t happen every day. I’m very proud of my round today, I can tell you that the main difference is that I was able to clearly see more lines on the greens today so maybe some putts I missed yesterday, today I was able to make them. The par 5s are relatively short therefor you must take advantage and today I was able to accomplish that making 1 eagle and 3 birdies. I’m very satisfied on how I handled the par 5s but most importantly on how I putted today.” He plans on “hitting every fairway and every green tomorrow and must take advantage of the par 5s. If I can make 5 birdies on the par 5s I’m pretty confidence I’ll have a good chance tomorrow. My caddie today helped me tremendously helping me with the lines and my strategy so part of today’s result is thanks to her.”
Germany’s Christian Braunig who was tied in 3rd place after yesterday’s 1st round, now finds himself only 1 stroke off the lead. He followed his opening-round of 7 under-par, with another 7 under-par in the second round for a two-day total of 14 under-par. During today’s round, he made 1 eagle, 7 birdies and 2 bogeys. He concluded his round an eagle on the par 5, 9thhole, “Today I had a slow start making some crucial up and down on the first few holes. I tried to stay patient and then on my back nine, the course back nine, I hit some very good shots and some putts finally dropped. I finished with an eagle on 9, my 18th which was very satisfying. Tomorrow I want to try and take as much advantage from the par 5 and as many birdies as possible.”

He finds himself with a two-day total of 13 under-par after his 4 under-par, 67 in round 2 with 2 eagles, 3 birdies and 3 bogeys.When he concluded his round, he commented that he found, “the conditions very similar to round 1, the pins were a little trickier though. I am happy with my round today and I’m looking forward to having a chance at winning my second event of the season tomorrow. Winning my second event would not change anything. I try to go out each week and give myself a chance to win so I am definitely looking forward to tomorrow.” Floydd added that he believes “tomorrow’s winning score to be -18.”
Lars Keunen from Netherland who was tied for 6th place after the first round, now finds himself in the two-way tie in 2nd place at 13 under-par. He made 4 birdies and 2 bogeys on his front nine and 5 birdies on the back nine for a second round of 7 under-par, 65 and holds a two-day total of 13 under-par. He currently is in 9th place in the Order of Merit ranks and has been constantly near the top of the leaderboards in the majority of the events this season while he looks to capture his 2nd win. Keunen is 26 years old and represents The Dutch Golf Club. After his round, he commented on how special it was to “finish my round with three straight birdies. That was very good. I found the course to be playing pretty similar to yesterday. However, I believe that some pin positions were definitely trickier than in yesterday’s first round.” He went on to add that “Tomorrow I think the winning score will be 20 under-par or better.”
There is 3-way tie for 5th place with a two-day total of 11 under-par with a Finish duo: Alex Hietala and Eemil Alajarvi and Ireland’s Paul Murphy.

The Alps Tour and the Pro Golf Tour co-sanctioned event gets underway tomorrow!
A strong field is represented in Tenerife this week.
There are currently 8 of the top 10 players in the Order of Merit rank participating in this week’s field: Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, Spain’s Quim Vidal, England’s Jack Floydd, Italy’s Luca Cianchetti and Andrea Romano, France’s Benjamin Kedochim, Netherland’s Lars Keunen and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy.
The majority of this season’s previous winners will be competing for the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open title which include: England’s Jack Floydd who captured the season opener event, Spain’s Quim Vidal who won the 2023 Red Sea Little Venice Open, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney winner of the 2023 Gösser Open and Italy’s Luca Cianchetti winner of the inaugural 2023 Croara Alps Open.
There are 21 different nationalities represented among the 140 players from both tours scheduled to play this week.
They will contend a prize fund of € 30.000 and 30,000 Order of Merit points. The tournament winner will earn €5,000 and 5,000 Order of Merit points. If a player is member of both tours, they will earn Order of Merit points on both ranks.
The format of the event is a 54 holes stroke play where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties.

The Course
Buenavista Golf opened in 2003 and is located on the north-western corner of the island of Tenerife. It was designed by Seve Ballesteros, and the course is laid out on cliff tops that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. It is surrounded by the Teno mountain range as well as the Atlantic Ocean. Buenavista Golf was recognized as the most spectacular and scenic golf course on the island.
The fairways are generally wide and forgiving but there is thick vegetation and rocks that follow the layout of the course. There are 5 greens that are close to the small cliffs of the rocky coastline with beautiful views of the breaking waves. The water hazards come into play on a number of holes like the 17th hole.
The players will compete on the course that will be set up as a 5948 meters, par 71.

The final round of the 2023 Alps de Andalucía being played at the beautiful Isla Canela Links began at 8:00 am under sunny skies, a warm temperature and windy conditions. Final Round Player Quotes
France’s Benjamin Kedochim, who was tied for the lead after round 2, had a final round of 6 under-par for a three-day total of 18 under-par to take part in the two-way sudden-death playoff. He made 1 bogey and 7 birdies in his final round. His score for each round this week has been three consecutive 66s. He is 28 years old and currently represents Biarritz Le Phare. Prior to today’s playoff, his best finish was a tied for 6th place at the 2023 Gösser Open. After he complete the playoff, Kedochim was very satisfied of himself, “Yeah I feel like I did my job the past 3 days. Definitely three rounds with the same score under par doesn’t happen every time. I don’t have anything to regret and actually I’m very pleased of myself. I will keep playing like I played this week and allowing myself to have chances and I’m sure it will be rewarded in the next events.”
Spain’s twenty-three years old, Quim Vidal, winner of the 2nd event of the season, the 2023 Red Sea Little Venice Open was close to the top of the leaderboard all week. He shot a bogey-free 5 under-par round, 67 today with 5 birdies for a three-day total of 16 under-par. When he signed for his bogey-free round, Vidal commented: “I played pretty well, today I didn’t make as many birdie putts, I had many that I couldn’t take advantage off. I played well the par 5 except the first one but overall, I am happy. I think I had a good chance to win again because my game is solid. I’m taking from this week some great feelings in my game as I hit the ball much better and was able to earn some confidence.”
Round 1 Leader, France’s Paul Margolis, concludes the tournament tied for 4th place with a three-day score of 15 under-par. He shot a bogey-free final round with 7 birdies for a 7 under-par, 65. He is 24 years old and represents Cannes-Mougins Golf Club. Margolis turned professional at the end of 2021 and captured his 1st win on the Alps Tour as an amateur player at the 2021 Mira Live the Soul Open. At the end of the 2021 season, he earned one of the coveted Challenge Tour Cards which is up for grabs to the highest ranked players in the Alps Tour Order of Merit for the following season. After his final round, he commented: “Today was a great round, it was very similar to my first round where I had a bogey-free 8 under-par round. I hit my irons so well today and my putting on the back nine could’ve been better, I had a lot of chances within 5 meters I wasn’t able to capitalize on. I could’ve been a much lower than what I actually did. Overall, it’s still a great tournament and I’m really happy about where my game is at right now. I’m getting closer to capturing a win so I’m going to keep focusing on what I have been doing so hopefully I will be holding a trophy soon.”
Alongside Margolis tied in 4th place at 15 under-par, Netherland’s Lars Keunen. In 6th place, Spain’s Enrique Marin. Just 2 strokes back in 7th place, Edoardo R Lipparelli from Italy.
After the 8th event of the season, Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele keeps the Alps Tour Order of Merit lead with Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney in 2nd place and Spain’s Quim Vidal closes out the top three spots. This week’s winner, Spain’s Jose Manuel Pardo Benitez has moved into 6th place.

Lars Keunen and Benjamin Kedochim co-lead after Round 2 at the 2023 Alps de Andalucía.
It was another beautiful day with great scoring opportunities for the players competing at Isla Canela Links for the 2nd round of the 2023 Alps de Andalucía. The weather conditions were very favorable with sunny skies and a very warm temperature that reached 35°C. Play began at 8:15 am from both the 1st and 10th hole.
Netherland’s Lars Keunen who was in 2nd place after the first round, now finds himself in a share of the lead after today’s round at 12 under-par. He made 6 birdies and 1 bogey today for a second round of 5 under-par,67 and a two-day total of 12 under-par. He is currently 10th in the Order of Merit rank and has been constantly near the top of the leaderboards in the majority of the events this season. Keunen 26 years old, represents The Dutch Golf Club. After his round, he commented on how he found “the wind was coming from the opposite direction on the first 9 holes so they played a little differently for me today.” He added that “after starting my round with a bogey, I definitely played well and I’m pleased about the 4 birdies in a row in the middle of my round. I was able to take advantage of the easier holes on the course today.” When asked about heading into the final round in the lead, he “plans to execute the same strategy he used like the past 2 days and see what happens. It would obviously mean a lot to win tomorrow as I put in a lot of work to get my game to the next level but I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself.”
Benjamin Kedochim from France who shot a bogey-free round yesterday and was tied for 3rd place, finds himself tied for the lead at 12 under-par. He followed his opening-round of 6 under-par, with another 6 under-par in the second round for a two-day total of 12 under-par. During today’s round, he made 8 birdies and 2 bogeys. He concluded his round with 3 birdies in his last 4 holes of the day. He is 28 years old and represents Biarritz Le Phare. After his round, he was very pleased as he “made the birdies where I needed to which is a good feeling. I did well on the easy holes making birdies on every easy hole like 15, 16 where I had a short wedge into the green and 17 where I holed a good putt. Both rounds have been very good and all parts of my game have been very consistent this week especially my putting which has been the best of the season.” When asked about what he plans to do to prepare for tomorrow, Kedochim added, “I’m ready to have a good dinner and talk with the boys then have a good rest tonight ahead of tomorrow’s final round.”

Spain’s Quim Vidal, winner of the second event of the season, the 2023 Red Sea Little Venice Open, is only 1 stroke off the lead after the 2nd round of the 2023 Alps de Andalucía. He is 23 years old and currently is 5th in the Order of Merit standings. Vidal was tied for 6th place after the 1st round of the tournament and now is in 3rd place with a two-day total of 11 under-par. He had a bogey-free 6 under-par, 66 in round 2 with 4 birdies and 1 eagle. When he signed for his bogey-free round, he commented: “yesterday I played pretty well but I had two very different rounds. Yesterday I didn’t play bad but I made some good putts and today I played super well, leaving them very close but I didn’t putt well. I’m playing comfortably, with confidence because I’m hitting the ball well but not putting to my standards. I missed a few shorts putts which hurt.” He went on to add that, “After winning in Egypt, I missed a few cuts, but my game is improving again. I’ve made some technical changes in my swing with my coach and I’m hitting it more consistently again.” Vidal feels comfortable on this course as “I know it well because between the Alps Tour and the PQs I’ve played it a lot. I hope to finish the week well and move forward in the Alps Tour rankings.”
There is a 3-way tie for 4th place with a two-day total of 10 under-par with a Spanish trio: Victor Garcia Broto, Jose Manuel Pardo Benitez and Enrique Marin. In 7th place at 9 under-par, French amateur Antoine Bachelier.

A total of 49 players made the cut which was set at 141 (-3).

Paul Margolis lead after round 1 at the Alps de Andalucía.
Ayamonte, June 15th 2023- France’s Paul Margolis leads with a bogey-free 8 under-par, 64 at the conclusion of the 1st round at the 2023 Alps de Andalucía. Netherland’s Lars Keunen finds himself in 2nd place with a first-round score of 7 under-par, 65. French duo Romain Wattel and Benjamin Kedochim are tied alongside Spain’s Jose Manuel Pardo Benitez in 3rdplace with a 6 under-par 66.
A beautiful day with pleasant temperatures reaching a high of 29* but with windy conditions welcomed the players at Isla Canela Links course near Ayamonte, Spain for the first round of the 2023 Alps de Andalucía. This is the 11th edition of the event and the second time it’s being played at this golf course. Play began at 8:15 am from both the 1st and 10th hole.
Lars Keunen from Netherland concluded his first round at the 2023 Alps de Andalucía with 7 under-par, 65 and find himself in 2nd place. He is 26 years old and represents The Dutch Golf Club. He has been consistently near the top of the leaderboards in the majority of the events this season. After his round, he happily commented: “my game was pretty good from tee to green today. The wind made it pretty tricky on some holes but overall, I played nicely, I’m happy. Tomorrow I’ll try to keep doing the same things and keep the same mindset of going one shot at a time.”
Romain Wattel from France, who represents Bussy Saint Georges, concluded his first round at the 2023 Alps de Andalucíawith a 6 under-par, 66 and is one of three players tied for 3rd place. He is 2 strokes off the lead heading into the second round. He began his round on the 10th hole today and made 3 birdies on his front nine and 4 birdies and 1 bogey on his back nine.
France’s Benjamin Kedochim, shot a bogey-free, 6 under-par, 66 with 4 birdies and 1 eagle and he is the second player tied for 3rd place entering the second round. He is 28 years old and currently represents Biarritz Le Phare. His best finish so far this season is a tied for 6th place at the 2023 Gösser Open. After his opening round, Kedochim was pleased: “Today was a great round, it’s my best round in putting, I made a lot of putts today. That was the best part of my game for sure even though usually it’s my iron play. I was able to always put the ball in play and never had to face a tough situation. My attitude was very positive and I just tried to keep doing my best.” He went on to add that he had the same mindset as when he played at the Gösser Open which was “to put the ball in play and then hit the middle of the green and make as many putts as possible.” Kedochim, went on to comment that: “I’ve been in contention lately and had a tough final round that kept me out of the top 5 but now I’m just focusing on what I can control and try to stay as close to the top as possible to hopefully capture a trophy soon.”
Jose Manuel Pardo Benitez from Spain who is 24 years old and represents Golf La Moraleja is the third player in the 3-way tie at 6 under-par and 2 strokes off the lead. He made 5 birdies on the front nine and 2 birdies and 1 bogey on the nine. After the round, he was overall satisfied, “I played really well, very solid today, the best part of my game was the attitude knowing that I am in a great place after finishing 4th last week. I started the season poorly missing cuts but I am getting better each day. Things are going really well around me, golf, family, life and of course all of that reflects on the golf course and how I can approach each round.”
There is a 7-way tie for 6th place at 5-under-par that includes: French amateur Antoine Bachelier, France’s Arthur Ameil-Planchin, Belgium’s Kevin Hesbois, Spanish duo Victor Garcia Broto and Mario Galiano Aguilar, England’s Jack Floydd and Spain’s Quim Vidal.
The 140 players are competing for an overall prize fund of €40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The tournament winner will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
Round 2-
The second round of the 2023 Alps de Andalucía will begin again at 8:15 am local time from the 1st and 10th hole. After round 2, a cut will be made to the top 40 players and ties.
The first-round leader, Paul Margolis will begin round 2 at 1:48 pm local time from the 10th hole.

A typical sunny spring day with blue skies and warm temperatures on the border between the Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna Region welcomed the players for the first round of the 2023 Croara Alps Open played at Croara Country Club near Piacenza, Italy. Play began at 7:30 am this morning from both the 1st and 10th hole. The forecast for the remainder of the week is expected to be very similar to today which will allow players to have optimal scoring conditions.
This is the first time that Croara Country Club is hosting an Alps Tour event. Players are subject to the new course and its subsequent new conditions. After Saturday’s final round, we will have an inaugural winner for this event.
Round 1 Player Quotes
Ludovico Addabbo from Italy who concluded last week’s event in France tied for 7th place with a poor finish, has a 1 stroke lead after the 1st round of the 2023 Croara Alps Open. He turned professional in the early part of 2020, is 24 years old and represents Castelgandolfo Golf and Country Club. During today’s round, he made 3 bogeys, 2 eagles and 6 birdies for a 7 under-par,64. He had a very strong finish making an eagle on his 18th hole of the day, the actual 9th hole. After his round, Addabbo was ecstatic, “Today was a great day, I made a lot of birdies, 2 eagles and unfortunately 3 bogeys but I cannot be disappointed. My putter was definitely on my side today, I’ve had some issues with it in the past but today was not the case. After today’s round I hope now have a good relationship with my putter.” He added that he believes “the course is in good shape, you must hit it straight, very similar to last week in France but luckily this week it’s not as punitive.” He feels that he’s been playing well for a while now and now that the putter is finally on his side, “I feel I have some good golf coming. Tomorrow I won’t focus on anything specific, I will just try to hit as many fairways and greens as possible to give myself the most birdie chances. I will also try to stay calm and focused. The most important is to give myself chances and enjoy the moment. Every hole is a new birdies opportunity and I look forward too many more tomorrow.”
Italy’s Edoardo Giletta who represents Golf Biella Le Betulle is in a two-way tie for 2nd place at the conclusion of the 1stround at the inaugural 2023 Croara Alps Open. He shot a 6 under-par, 65 opening round with 3 birdies on his front nine and 2 bogeys, 1 eagle and 3 birdies to conclude his round. When he signed his card, Giletta commented on how “I was really consistent today in my game and didn’t make too many mistakes. I putted very well, I found a good rhythm pretty quickly so it was good to get going and get a good round in.” He went on to add that he ended his round with “two silly bogeys, one was a three-putt and the other was just a bad shot and couldn’t recover but I was able to stay calm and focused on the upcoming holes which I was able to have a birdie-birdie finish.” When asked about his perspective into tomorrow, he explained: “I will try to stay as calm as possible and play shot by shot and hole by hole without getting too far ahead of myself. I’m pretty confident in my game especially after today’s round. Now I will go and do a light practice to keep the feel going.”
Lars Keunen from Netherland concluded his first round at the 2023 Croara Alps Open with a bogey-free 6 under-par, 65 to be the second player in the two-way tie for 2nd place. He is 26 years old and represents The Dutch Golf Club. He currently is in 8th place in the Order of Merit rank and has been consistently near the top of the leaderboards in the majority of this seasons event. After another great bogey-free round, Keunen commented, “My round was very solid. I didn’t have to make too many putts for par and gave myself a lot of birdie chances.” When enquired about his perspective for the week, “I will try to keep doing the same things and play one shot at a time. I think I just have to stay patient with my game and trust that I’m working on the right things and that results are coming.” This is the first time that Croara Country Club hosts an Alps Tour event and Keunen found “the course is very nice but I believe to play well, you have to hit some good tee-shots and must be able to shape the ball a little.”
There is a 5-way tie for 4th place at 5-under par that includes: Swiss Luca Galliano, Spain’s Quim Vidal, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, Italy’s Enrico Di Nitto and France’s Benjamin Kedochim.

The Tour heads back to Italy for the inaugural 2023 Croara Alps Open.
This is the first time that Croara Country Club will host an Alps Tour event. Being a new event on the schedule, it is sure to be an intriguing week where players will be subject to a new course, and its subsequent conditions. At the end of the event, we will have an inaugural winner of this Alps Tour stop with a new tournament score record for this golf course.
The Field
A very strong field is expected this week in Italy for the 7th event of the season.
All of this season previous winners will be competing for the inaugural 2023 Croara Alps Open title except for Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele who captured 3 titles so far including last week’s event in France.
The following top 10 Order of Merit players are expected to compete: Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, England’s Jack Floydd, Spain’s Quim Vidal, France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy, Italy’s Enrico Di Nitto, Netherland’s Davey Porsius and Lars Keunen, Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue and Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero.
The field will be made up of 144 players representing 16 different nations. The players will be competing for a prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 points. The winner of the inaugural 2023 Croara Alps Open, will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
The tournament will be played as a 54 holes stroke play event, where a cut will be made after 36 holes. The top 40 players and ties will compete during the final round scheduled on June 10th.

The Course
Croara Country Club located in Gazzola near Piacenza, Italy is situated only a few kilometers from Piacenza and about 96 km south of Milan, close to the border between Lombardy Region and Emilia-Romagna Region. The first nine holes were designed by Buratti and opened for play in 1976. While the second nine holes opened for play in 1983 and were designed by Croze and Lo Cascio. It will be played as a 6065 meters par 71 course.
It is located in an undulating area that is affected by the temperate climate of the close Liguria region. The 18 holes that run alongside the Trebbia River are considered a very technical course with relatively narrow fairways bordered by oaks, chestnut trees and locust trees that offers fascinating sceneries.
This is the first time that Croara Country Club will host and Italian Pro Tour event as well as an Alps Tour tournament. Nonetheless, it hosted the 1st Italian Women’s Open in 1987.

Theo Brizard leads by 1 at the 20th Open de La Mirabelle d’Or.
Another beautiful day with mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures welcomed the players at Golf Domaine de la Grange aux Ormes for the 2nd round of the 2023 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or. Play began at 7:30 am from both the 1stand 10th hole. This is the 20th edition of the tournament and has been part of the Alps Tour schedule since 2005. For tomorrow’s final round, a sunny day is expected with temperatures around 26°C.
Twenty-two year old, Theo Brizard from France, who was tied for 8th place after the 1st round, now finds himself in the lead by 1 stroke. He shot a second round of 5 under-par,65 with 8 birdies, 1 bogey and 1 double bogey. Brizard turned professional in 2021 yet has never won an Alps Tour event. His best finish was a 2nd place in 2021 at the season opener in Acaya as an amateur. Brizard began his round with 3 birdies in a row and 5 birdies overall in his first 6 holes. After his round he was very satisfied and happily commented: “Today was a tough fight! I played really solid tee to green, managed to get myself in a lot of birdie positions which was positive. I played really well the easy holes, was focused on the hard ones, and to start my round with 3 birdies helped a lot! I hit the 2 par 5s in 2 and holed a nice 4 meters putt on 11. It was a great start!” When asked about his approach heading into the final round tomorrow in the lead, Brizard added: “I’ll go the same way, try to play well and enjoy the easy holes, being focused on the hard ones, and have a good attitude until the end! I have some tough competitors behind me, but I’m confident! It’ll be a nice fight, and I look forward to the challenge.”
England’s Jack Floydd, winner of the season opener 2023 Ein Bay Open, is only 1 stroke off the lead after the 2nd round of the 2023 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or. He is 26 years old and turned professional in 2020. He is currently playing his third season on the Alps Tour. Floydd was tied for 8th place at 1 under-par after the 1st round of the tournament and now is in 2nd place with a two-day total of 5 under-par. He made 7 birdies and 3 bogeys during round 2, for a 4 under-par,66. After his round, he commented on how “the course is very tricky compared to previous years. The fairways are rock hard and the rough is very penal so it’s super important to avoid it. I made 7 birdies today keeping the ball in play for the most part and gave myself some good chances on the greens which I managed to capitalize on.” Floydd went on to add that the strongly believes the “rough is very penal, it paramount to avoid it. Obviously, it’s not always possible, but certainly the strategy has changed from the previous years where there is a lot more irons of the tees this year to make sure you keep the ball in play. The downside on some holes is leaving yourself longer yardages into the greens but I believe that is definitely preferable compared to being in the long stuff.” Looking ahead to the final round tomorrow, where he could capture his 2nd title of the year, “it would mean a great deal to me to win my second event of the year, I’m delighted to have won the season opener but to get a second one would help me in the rankings and put me in a good position for the remainder of the season. It wouldn’t however change any of my plans, I plan to play all of the events this season and hopefully be able to graduate to the Challenge Tour.”
Lars Keunen from Netherland who was one of the co-leaders at 3 under-par at the conclusion of the 1st round finds himself in 3rd place only 2 strokes from the leader heading into the final round. He made 3 birdies and 2 bogeys today for a two-day total of 4 under-par. He currently sits 10th in the Order of Merit rank. After his round, Keunen commented how “today was a very solid round. I hit a lot of greens and luckily didn’t get in too much trouble. For tomorrow I will stick to my game plan of getting the ball in play off the tees and stay patient on the greens for putts to fall.”
Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele who has already captured two wins this season is in 4th place with a two-day total of 3 under-par. There is a 5-way tied for 5th place at 2 under-par that includes: France’s Nicolas Aparicio, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, Swiss Luca Galliano and French amateur Theo Boulet.
The highlight of the day belongs to France’s Franck Daux who made a hole-in-one on the par 3, 17th hole with a 50° wedge.Final Round
A total of 53 players made the cut which was set at +4 (144).
The final round of the 2023 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or will begin at 9:05 am am local time from the 1st and 10thhole. The final group will tee off at 10:40 am local time from the 1st hole.
The winner of the 2023 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or, will earn the winning check of €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

The tournament is being played at Golf Domaine de la Grange aux Ormes and began from both the 1st and 10th hole. This is the 20th edition of the tournament and has been part of the Alps Tour schedule since 2005. For the remainder of the week the weather is forecasted to be very similar to today.
Netherland’s Lars Keunen who is currently 10th in the Order of Merit rank, shot an opening round of 3 under-par 67 with 1 eagle, 4 birdies and 3 bogeys. He heads into round 2 in a three-way tied for the lead at 3 under-par. He is 26 years old and represents The Dutch Golf Club. After his round, Keunen commented how “today was a good round, the course is playing very difficult so my main goal was just to get myself in play of the tee on every hole. I actually didn’t hit a single driver or 3-wood during my entire round.” In the last few events, even though he has had some positive finishes including tying for 17th place last week in Italy he feels his “game and swing haven’t been the best lately but I feel like it’s starting to come together again which I’m pleased.” Obviously, for the next two days, “my plan is to keep getting myself in play off the tee and be patient that some birdies will come!”
Spain’s Inigo Lopez- Pizzaro who represents Club de Golf Val de Rois is also tied for the lead at 3 under-par. He made 1 eagle, 4 birdies and 3 bogeys during his first round. He is playing his 3rd Alps Tour event of the season following the first two events in Egypt. After his round, he was very happy about today and commented on how “I wasn’t playing well but during the practice round I kept hitting draws so I kept that feeling into the round today and it worked well. I played solid without making many mistakes.” He went on to add that, “yesterday I played with my friend Mario and we planned to not play too aggressive due to the very high rough. I planned to hit a lot of irons off the tee to make sure I stayed in play and then hit it on the green to give myself good birdie chances which I was able to take advantage today. I’m very happy with the result.”

Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney who is 27 years old and captured his 1st full-field professional win at the 2023 Gösser Open which took place in May, is the third-player tied for the lead at 3 under-par. He shot a 3 under-par 67 with 6 birdies and 3 bogeys. He turned professional in 2019 and competed in the 2022 Open Championship. After his round, Mullarney commented: “the rough is extremely long, the goal was to keep it out of there. I hit everything from an 8-iron to a 5-iron off the tee and only a couple of drivers which is strange for me as I usually rely on my driver the majority of the time. I’m relying on my short game but the real challenge this week is keeping the ball in play. It’s very firm, it’s playing very similar to a links course like home. I’m very happy with the way I played and I will try to stay as patient as possible out there the next two days as a lot of funny bounces and unusal things can happen.”
