Cianchetti surged to win

Cianchetti WEBItaly’s Luca Cianchetti, 19 and still amateur, won the 2015 Abruzzo Open AXA. He fired 66 during final round to easily overcome the overnight leader and sealed maiden win on a pro event with -11. Fellow Lorenzo Scotto is second on his own 3 shots back.

“I am very happy but I would never thought I could win.” admitted the young team mate of Italian National Team. “I was very calm because I did not imagine I could have a chance. I played the first nine quite decently, I turned -4 but I holed a very good birdie on the 10th, then, the key hole was the 13th. I had a great up and down and I saved a great par. At this moment I told to myself – Ok you can do it, you can win –.”

Overnight leader Julien Gressier did not manage to keep his level of game and Nicolas Tacher, second yesterday, shot way over par to let a chance to followers.

Lorenzo Scotto did not win, he finished second but as the hero of the day is still an amateur, he will get his check (not the points for the ranking!)

The Alps Tour top 5 did not change. Darius Van Driel is still leader as the last event of the season is to played next week in Israël.
