5th September 2025 | Alps Tour Golf

Javier Barcos moves into the lead after Day 2 at the 2025 Longwy Alps Open.

Longwy, September 5th, 2025 – After two rounds of the 2025 Longwy Alps Open, the competition remains wide open, with a tightly packed leaderboard setting the stage for an exciting final day. Spain’s Javier Barcos holds the outright lead at 11 under-par, closely followed by compatriot Manuel Morugan, just one shot back at 10 under-par. Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo sits in solo third at 9 under-par, while a three-way tie for 4th place at 7-under-par includes Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, Spain’s Borja Martin, and Italy’s Mattia Comotti all well within striking distance as the tournament heads into its decisive final round.

With the 2025 Alps Tour season rapidly approaching its conclusion, this week’s tournament is proving to be more than just another stop on the schedule; it’s a defining moment in the race for Order of Merit points. As players battle for position in the season standings, each round takes on heightened significance, especially with just a handful of events remaining before the all-important Alps Tour Grand Final.

The fight for a top-five finish in the Order of Merit at the end of the season and promotion to the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour is reaching a crucial point. For some, this week is about maintaining momentum and tightening their grip on a coveted spot; for others, it’s a critical opportunity to surge up the rankings and keep their season dreams alive. Every swing carries weight, and the pressure is unmistakably high.

The 2025 Longwy Alps Open is in its second year on the Alps Tour calendar. The tournament returned this year following a strong debut last season, when France’s Damien Perrier emerged victorious.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Spain’s Javier Barcos, 23, made a significant move up the leaderboard on Friday at the 2025 Longwy Alps Open. After opening the tournament with a solid 3 under-par, 69 that had him tied for 15th place, Barcos delivered a brilliant second-round 8 under-par, 64 to take the outright lead with a two-day total of 11-under-par. Barcos, the winner of the 2025 New Giza Open and current Alps Tour Order of Merit leader, continued to show the consistent, high-level play that has defined his season. His second round featured five birdies and one bogey on the front nine, followed by an eagle, three additional birdies, and another bogey on the back nine, an impressive display of control and scoring under pressure. Reflecting on his round, Barcos shared: “It was one of those rounds that pretty much everything went well. I hit it good, and I made a couple of great putts that got my round going.” Unlike some players who had to return early Friday to complete their first round due to Thursday’s weather delay, he noted, “I was lucky enough to finish yesterday, so I was able to do my normal routine this morning, which was nice.” Despite the lingering effects of the rain, he felt the course conditions held up well: “It was cold the first few holes, and the ball traveled a little less, which you had to account for. Then the course actually drained really well for how much it rained yesterday, so it was nice to see.” With his position at the top of the Order of Merit and just a few events left in the season, Barcos admitted it’s difficult to block out the bigger picture: “I mean, it’s hard to not think about it, especially before each tournament. But once it’s time to play, I just try to focus on what is going on in the present and play from there.” Looking ahead to the final round, Barcos remains focused on consistency: “I think about doing the same things I have been doing these past two days, keep focused and just think on what is in front of me, and trust I can hit good shots.” He also spoke about managing the mental side of the game between rounds: “I tried to just be with my friends in between rounds to disconnect from golf. After that, just think of what is in front of you every time, which is easy to say but not that easy to do. Still, you just have to realize when your mind starts wandering somewhere else and bring it back to the present.”

In solo second place with a two-day total of 10 under-par is Spain’s Manuel Morugan, 34, winner of the 2022 Abruzzo Alps Open, who fired a bogey-free 7 under-par, 65 in today’s second round. His scorecard included birdies on holes 2, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, and 16. Speaking after his round, Morugan shared: “I obviously played well, but I was very calm all day today. This is probably my last Alps Tour event, so I came here with the mindset to enjoy it as much as I can. I didn’t have a specific goal in mind—I just wanted to have fun and enjoy every moment.” Looking ahead, he added: “If I end up winning tomorrow, we will see what happens—I’ll think about it then. I’m not entirely sure what I will do. For now, I’ll focus on tomorrow and do the same thing as I did today. I’ll enjoy it either way it goes. Hopefully I’ll have a positive outcome, but no matter what, that’s the only target I’ll have tomorrow.”

Ludovico Addabbo, 26, from Italy, followed up his opening round of 1 under-par, 71 with an impressive 7 under-par, 65 in today’s second round to move into contention at 8 under-par. He began his day with 3 birdies and 1 bogey on the front-nine, but truly found his rhythm on the back nine, going on a birdie run with on holes 11, 12, 14, 16, and 18 to close out a strong round and position himself firmly in the hunt heading into the final day. Reflecting on his round, Addabbo said: “I played great golf from tee to green, I hit all 18 greens in regulation. The only regret is missing four putts inside two meters, but overall, it was a really solid round.” He also commented on the quick turnaround after completing his first round earlier in the morning due to Thursday’s weather delay: “Staying focused during the break wasn’t too difficult. We restarted at eight and my second-round tee time was at nine, so there wasn’t much downtime between rounds.” Currently outside the top spots on the season-long standings, Addabbo acknowledged the pressure: “I haven’t played my best golf this season, so of course I’m thinking about the Order of Merit. I need some strong results to keep my category for next year.” Looking ahead to the final round, his strategy remains clear and disciplined: “This is a relatively tight course, so I’ll stick to the same plan, keep the ball in play, even if that means giving up a bit of distance and leaving myself some long irons into par fours. The key is to stay steady, maybe hit more irons off the tee, take advantage of the par fives, and give myself as many chances as possible.”

A total of 46 players including 4 amateurs made the cut which was set at 143 (-1).

The Final Round will begin at 8:50 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 12:20 p.m. local time from the 1st hole.

There is a 4-way tie for 4th place at 9 under-par which includes: Scotland’s Callum Bruce, French duo Benjamin Kedochim and Nicolas Peyrichou and Italian amateur Flavio Michetti.

It began as another beautiful spring day with warm temperatures which turned into an overcast day in the early afternoon on the border between the Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna Region for the 2nd round of the 2023 Croara Alps Open. The tournament is being played at Croara Country Club near Piacenza, Italy and the second-round action began at 7:30 am this morning from both the 1st and 10th hole.

This is the first time that Croara Country Club is hosting an Alps Tour event and after tomorrow’s final round, we will have an inaugural winner for this event.

Round 2 Player Quotes

An Alps Tour previous winner, Italy’s Luca Cianchetti makes 1 bogey and 11 birdies for a 10 under-par, 61 holding the tournament course record. He heads into tomorrow’s final round with a one-shot lead, and a two-day total of 12 under-par. He is 27 years old and represents Modena Golf & Country Club. Over the years, he earned various wins on the tour but his most recent victory occurred at the 2021 Red Sea Little Venice Open. He won a pro-am on this course a few years ago and feels at ease. After his round, Cianchetti was happy to comment: “Getting off to a good start hitting great shots the first 4 holes with 4 birdies in a row definitely allowed me to have good momentum for the remainder of the round. I had great feelings since the beginning of the day and I’m pleased to have taken advantage of them.” He now holds the tournament course record with his 10 under-par round, he is “very happy to have the tournament course record but more importantly I’m pleased because I felt really good on the course. I strongly believe that you need to be patient and believe on the things you are working on and then results will come. I’ve been playing well lately but I just needed to be patient for the right time.”Cianchetti’s single bogey of the day came on the 5th hole where, “I 3-putted missing a short putt. It can happen but luckily making that mistake allowed me to keep my focus very high.” He aims to capture another trophy tomorrow since it’s been a while from his last win but he “would like to try and not focus on the ultimate objective but take it as another round of golf where I will try and performance my best like today and see what happens.”

Round 1 Leader, Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo finds himself in a two-way tie for 2nd place only 1 stroke from the lead heading into the final round. He made 2 bogeys and 6 birdies today for a two-day total of 11 under-par. He is 24 years old and turned professional at the beginning of 2020 shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic began. After his round, Addabbo commented how today “I was really precise of the tee again today, I hit my irons shot less well but luckily always missed them on the correct side but very happy to say my putter is still solid even if I holed a few less putts. Overall, I’m still very pleased on how the round went.” When asked about the conditions playing in the morning compared to the afternoon he thought that “the course is playing very similar to my afternoon wave tee-time yesterday. There is little wind and the heat was the same.” When thinking about tomorrow’s final round, Addabbo’s plan is to “head into the round with the same strategy and the same plan, I want to be very solid off the tee and hit as many greens as possible and see what will happen on the 18th green”

Luca Galliano from Switzerland who was tied from 4th place after yesterday’s first round, is now the second player in the two-way tie for 2nd place heading into the final round. He made 4 birdies and 1 bogey on his front nine and 3 birdies on the back nine for a 6 under-par 65 round. After his 6 under-par round, Galliano is looking forward to tomorrow, “I made 3 birdies in a row to end my round from hole 15 to 17 which allows me to be in a very good position heading into tomorrow where I hope to be able to capture the trophy, which would be my first win in a few years. I will head into the round with the same feelings as today and same game plan which I’ve seen is working well.” He added that he was very pleased on how he “made a good birdie on the 1st hole which is always positive. I missed a few short birdie putts on the next few holes and unfortunately 3 putted the 5th hole for bogey and from there on I played very well.”

Scotland’s Callum Bruce, 24 years old who currently represents Duff House Royal Golf Club was tied for 23rd place after yesterday’s 1st round, now finds himself in a 4-way tie for 4th place. During today’s 2nd round, he made 1 eagle, 1 bogey, 6 birdies which 3 in a row for a 7 under-par, 64 and a two-day total of 9 under-par. He turned professional in 2023 and is playing his 1st season on the Alps Tour. Bruce commented following his 7 under-par round that he “got off to a really good front nine being able to birdie a few holes early on like 2 and 4 and then ended with an eagle on 9, the par 5. On the back nine, holes 10 to 15 was a bit quite but then I hit a close shot into 16 and got a good birdie in and on the 17th hole, I hit a great 3wood into the green to about 25ft and 2-putted that and holed a nice 20ft putt on the final hole for a good finish. I tried to stayed patient, there is a lot of birdie chances on this course but just because you don’t birdie the holes everyone else does, doesn’t mean you can’t birdie the rest.” He also spoke about how he likes Croara Country Club“The course is great, it’s in really good conditions and the greenkeeping staff did a fantastic job preparing it for us. I’ve spoken to other players and we are all enjoying the event being here.”  Heading into tomorrow’s final round only a few strokes off the lead, Bruce added, “tomorrow I will just keep playing the way I’ve played the past two days, not much has changed in terms of the weather I believe so the game plan I decided at the beginning of the week seems to be working so I’ll continue to do that and as long as I give myself chances tomorrow should be fun and I look forward to it.”

Alongside Bruce in the 4-way tie for 4th place with a two-day total of 9 under-par there is French duo: Benjamin Kedochimand Nicolas Peyrichou as well as Italian amateur Flavio Michetti.

Final Round

A total of 55 players (47 professionals and 8 amateurs) made the cut which was set at -1 (141).

Round 1 Player Quotes

Ludovico Addabbo from Italy who concluded last week’s event in France tied for 7th place with a poor finish, has a 1 stroke lead after the 1st round of the 2023 Croara Alps Open.  He turned professional in the early part of 2020, is 24 years old and represents Castelgandolfo Golf and Country Club. During today’s round, he made 3 bogeys, 2 eagles and 6 birdies for a 7 under-par,64. He had a very strong finish making an eagle on his 18th hole of the day, the actual 9th hole. After his round, Addabbo was ecstatic, “Today was a great day, I made a lot of birdies, 2 eagles and unfortunately 3 bogeys but I cannot be disappointed. My putter was definitely on my side today, I’ve had some issues with it in the past but today was not the case. After today’s round I hope now have a good relationship with my putter.” He added that he believes “the course is in good shape, you must hit it straight, very similar to last week in France but luckily this week it’s not as punitive.” He feels that he’s been playing well for a while now and now that the putter is finally on his side, “I feel I have some good golf coming. Tomorrow I won’t focus on anything specific, I will just try to hit as many fairways and greens as possible to give myself the most birdie chances. I will also try to stay calm and focused. The most important is to give myself chances and enjoy the moment. Every hole is a new birdies opportunity and I look forward too many more tomorrow.”

Italy’s Edoardo Giletta who represents Golf Biella Le Betulle is in a two-way tie for 2nd place at the conclusion of the 1stround at the inaugural 2023 Croara Alps Open. He shot a 6 under-par, 65 opening round with 3 birdies on his front nine and 2 bogeys, 1 eagle and 3 birdies to conclude his round. When he signed his card, Giletta commented on how “I was really consistent today in my game and didn’t make too many mistakes. I putted very well, I found a good rhythm pretty quickly so it was good to get going and get a good round in.”  He went on to add that he ended his round with “two silly bogeys, one was a three-putt and the other was just a bad shot and couldn’t recover but I was able to stay calm and focused on the upcoming holes which I was able to have a birdie-birdie finish.”  When asked about his perspective into tomorrow, he explained: “I will try to stay as calm as possible and play shot by shot and hole by hole without getting too far ahead of myself. I’m pretty confident in my game especially after today’s round. Now I will go and do a light practice to keep the feel going.”

Lars Keunen from Netherland concluded his first round at the 2023 Croara Alps Open with a bogey-free 6 under-par, 65 to be the second player in the two-way tie for 2nd place. He currently is in 8th place in the Order of Merit rank and has been consistently near the top of the leaderboards in the majority of this seasons event. After another great bogey-free round, Keunen commented, “My round was very solid. I didn’t have to make too many putts for par and gave myself a lot of birdie chances.” When enquired about his perspective for the week, “I will try to keep doing the same things and play one shot at a time. I think I just have to stay patient with my game and trust that I’m working on the right things and that results are coming.” This is the first time that Croara Country Club hosts an Alps Tour event and Keunen found “the course is very nice but I believe to play well, you have to hit some good tee-shots and must be able to shape the ball a little.”

There is a 5-way tie for 4th place at 5-under par that includes: Swiss Luca Galliano, Spain’s Quim Vidal, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, Italy’s Enrico Di Nitto and France’s Benjamin Kedochim.
