The players head back to France for the 2022 Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open mixed event.

St.Omer, June 28th 2022– The tour heads to back to the Northern part of  France this week for the 2022 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open co-sanctioned event. Being a co-sanctioned tournament with the LET Access Series, the field will be split between the players belonging to the Alps Tour as well as the LETAS. The tournament will be played from Thursday 30th June until Saturday 2nd July at Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club near Saint-Omer, France.

On Wednesday 29th June, the traditional shotgun pro-am will take place with approximately 26 teams. The pro-am professional field will also be split in half between the Alps Tour players and the LET Access Series players.

It is the first time that this event will be part of the Alps Tour schedule. In previous years, it was a MasterCard Tour event, a European Challenge Tour event, and a DP World Tour event.

The Field-

The majority of this season’s previous winners will be competing for the 2022 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open title which include: Italy’s Gregorio De Leo, Netherland’s Koen Kouwenaar and Spain’s Manuel Morugan. French amateur Julien Sale, currently 2nd in the Order of Merit rank will also be competing alongside the rest of top 10 players in the rank except for current leader Tom Vaillant and 5th place holder Gary Hurley.

In an effort to affirm the golf club support for disabled golfers Adem Wahbi, one of the finishers of the Pas de Calais Paragolf Open, hosted in the spring at this golf course, will be in the field alongside the Alps and LETAS players.

Ukrainian amateur Lev Grinberg, who at 14 years old broke the record as the youngest player to ever make the cut at a DP World Tour will be participating. Grinberg currently resides in Belgium and trains in Florida during the winters. He has made numerous headlines throughout his young amateur career. When he was 13 years old, he advanced to the final Stage of US Open qualifying and looked to become the youngest to ever compete in a major championship. Unfortunately, he ultimately was unable to play and had to withdraw from the event.

There are 16 different nationalities represented among the 84 players this week. The players will be competing for a prize fund of € 40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2022 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Openwill earn €6,400 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. The format of the tournament is a 54 holes stroke play where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 35 players and ties.

The Course-

Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club is located in Saint-Omer, France and opened in 1990. It is the only golf course in France that was designed by Dutch golfer, Joan Dudok van Heel. The course is a 6182 meter, par 71 course. It is placed in the middle of a natural site, with spectacular views of the Valley of the Aa. The course has an undulating terrain and is surrounded by trees that offer various different challenges to each player.  Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club is ranked among the top 30 courses in Northern France. It is home to 27 holes: an 18 holes championship course and a 9 holes course which is ideal for beginners and players wanting to improve their short game.

It has hosted an annual professional tournament since 1997 belonging to different tours. In 2000 it became part of the European Challenge Tour. In 2003 it became an official DP World Tour event, however it was soon removed from the European Tour in 2014 as it was played the same week as the US Open. Thus, remained a Challenge Tour event until this year where it’s now a co-sanctioned Alps Tour and LETAS tournament.
