Aravell, June 27^th 2023- The Alps Tour players head to the Northeastern area of Spain to compete in the 2^nd edition of the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand. The tournament will be played from June 29^th until July 1^st at the stunning Aravell Golf & Country Club which is located near Aravell, Lleida, Spain.

This year will be the 2^nd edition of the event, which was created last year to celebrate the 25^th Anniversary of the host golf course.

There will be two pro-am played this week: the opening pro-am which will be played on Wednesday 28^th June with approximately 25 teams participating, and the closing pro-am that will be played on Sunday 2^nd July with an estimated 25 teams. During the closing pro-am, the winner of the 2^nd 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand will be participating.

Last year’s inaugural winner was France’s Tom Vaillant, who captured the win with a total score of 22 under-par, while he was still an amateur player. He went on to grab one of the five coveted Challenge Tour Cards which were given out at the end of the past season, and has now become a Challenge Tour player.

The Field

All of this season previous winners except for Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele, who captured his 3^rd title of the current season at the 2023 Open de La Mirabelle d’Or earning a Challenge Tour card for the remainder of the season, will be competing for the 2^nd edition of the Aravell Golf Open by Creand title.

Netherland’s Lars Keunen, winner of the most recent Alps Tour tournament and currently 3^rd in the Order of Merit, will be in the field this week and looking to capture his 2^nd win of the season.

All of the players who are currently in the top 10 of the Order of Merit rank will be competing except for the current leader, Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele.

Spain’s Quim Vidal, winner of the 2023 Red Sea Little Venice Open and currently 5^th in the standings will be competing as the highest Spanish player in the field.

Among the players competing this week, Spain’s Juan Postigo will be competing. He reached the 3^rd place in the World Rankings for Golfers with Disabilities and has captured numerous prestigious titles in his career, including the European Championship for Golfers with Disability in 2021. So far this season he won the G4D Tour in Abu Dhabi and the G4D Tour at Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed.

Spain’s Alvaro Velasco is also in the field this week. He is a veteran professional player who competed on the European Tour, as well as a winner on the Challenge Tour.

There are 20 different nationalities represented among the expected 144 players scheduled to compete in Northern Spain.

They will be contending a prize fund of € 40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand will capture €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. The players are competing to earn a spot in the top 5 Order of Merit rank which at the end of the season, will give them access to the 2024 Challenge Tour.

The tournament will be played as a 54 holes stroke play event and a cut will be made after 36 holes and the top 40 players and ties will compete during the final round which is schedule for July 1^st.

The Course

Located only 15 km from the Andorra Principality and 5 km from La Seu d’Urgell, Aravell Golf & Country Club is situated in Aravell, Leida, Spain. It is an 18-hole course designed by two-times Masters Champion, José María Olazábal. The golf course will be played as a par 71, 6155 meters.

Aravell Golf & Country Club is a compact and fun layout course, with narrow fairways, relatively small greens and spacious rough making it a challenging course for the players. It is located in a large valley, with an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. The course has beautiful views of the Pyrenees as well as the Cadí mountains.

Tournament Promoter

The 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand is promoted by former DP World Tour winner, Spain’s José Manuel Lara. He captured 2 wins during his professional playing career in 2006 in Hong Kong and in 2010 at the Austrian Golf Open.

The economic promoter of the tournament is Aravell Golf & Country Club and the title sponsorship of this week’s event belongs to Creand, which was named Crèdit Andorrà during the last edition of the tournament before the launching of its new brand Creand took place.
